Game Premise and Audience

Setting and Story

• Paris, France• Kitchen of a 4 star hotel like the George V • The player gets to

write their ownbackstory as to whythey have joined thekitchen as a Plongeur or Marmiton

Goal of the game

• Work through the levels and achieve each new position in the kitchen

• To win the game the player becomes Chef de cuisine of the restaurant (or possibly opens their own restaurant)

Major Skills

• Knife skills• Knowledge of fresh ingredients• Knowledge of pantry staples• Knowledge of chemical reactions involved in cooking• Knowledge of basic math used when cooking• Ability to read and follow a recipe• Knowledge of what flavors combine well• General nutritional component• General food safety

Levels

• Level 0 – Kitchen overview and vocabulary (overview of kitchen appliances, utensils and basic terms)

• Level 1 – Food safety• Level 2 – Basic science behind cooking (this

includes the basic math such as fractions, liquid measure, and weight as well)

• Level 3 – Basic knowledge of kitchen ingredient staples (fresh produce, meats, dairy, herbs, spices and pantry staples)

• Level 4 – Following a Recipe• Level 5 – Knife Skills

Levels

• Level 6 – Baking Science • Level 7 – Buying Ingredients (This will have a small

nutritional component)• Level 8 – Cooking (This could be split into several

different areas to focus on different skills such as sauces, soups, poultry, meat, pasta, etc.)

• Level 9 – Baking (This would be broken into bread baking and pastry)

• Level 10 – Pairing flavors • Level 11 – Running the kitchen
