1950’s/60’s

showed women all over the world that you can be beautiful no matter what your size is. (Marilyn was a size 16). She was the sex symbol of the 1950s and was extremely famous for her fashion styles. She showed women that you can be revealing and comfortable at the same time (shown in her trademark photo above). Her good sense of style

1980’s

• Madonna may be one of the first pioneers of the messy chic look of the 80’s. She started the layered look, with shirts and coats and more shirts. A lace shirt was often worn over another shirt.

• Her layers also includedaccessories. She wore multiplenecklaces and bracelets, somewith crosses and othericonography. She also favouredpearls and beads. Her earringswere long and dangly, withcrosses or religious symbols.

• Everyday Madonna clothing ofthe 80’s included a skirt wornover tight, short pants. Sometimesthey were patterned, other timesthey were lacy. No matter, thegirls in school copied them
