engagement and enjoyment of intellectual exploration will en-able our students to discover their talents and to embrace the value of service. The quality of community life at Cape Fear Christian Academy continues to be powerful, warm and mutually supportive. I would like to take this opportu-nity to thank each of you for your strong support for the School. We are blessed by your willing-ness to offer active assistance in so many aspects of our school. I wish each of you a Merry Christ-mas with your families and a happy, healthy and fulfilling 2014. Warmest regards, Karen W. Parker
Dear Parents, Alumni & Friends, The season of Advent is upon us! This season is a wonderful re-minder that we all need to take our foot off of the accelerator and appreciate the prelude to Christ-mas Day. As we prepare for Christ’s coming at Christmas, let us remember that all good gifts come from the Father. As this year comes to a close and we reflect on 2013, I can see great achievement, fulfillment and promise. Each of us who serve this great School is commit-ted to strengthening CFCA. As we grow and change, we strive to remain true to our traditions and strong core values. Some excit-ing doors to the future are open-ing: the revitalization of our gym, the modernization of our science lab, and the changes to our aca-demic structure.
The reform of academic struc-tures in our Middle School is now well underway, and we are
building a sense of intellectual excitement. Our goal is to en-courage each student in the School to enjoy giving their best as often as they can. Fos-tering habits of wholehearted

as a parent and then joined the
CFCA staff in 2012; a running
topic of discussion through my 4
year relationship with the school
has been the needs of our gym.
Now, I am thrilled to be a part of
the team who will make the nec-
essary improvements a reality!
At our Open House on August
18, our Board Chairman, Mrs.
Renee Jackson surprised us all
with the announcement of a
$50,000 matching donation to
thrust the project into action.
We respect the donor’s wish to
remain anonymous, and we are
all so very thankful for their gen-
erosity to our school!
Several thousand dollars have
already been donated towards
the $50,000 matching goal. The
Board of Directors, Headmaster,
Athletic Director, and myself are
working to get a general contrac-
tor in place and to obtain bids on
the phases of the project. Once
the bids have been received, a
true timeline for the project will
be announced as well as more
exact dollar figures. With this
vision in place, we will launch a
dynamic fundraising campaign.

Scoring Soccer Season
Fall Festival Cape Fear Christian Academy's Fall Festi-val was held on Octo-ber 11th and was a huge success. Each grade chose a King and Queen to repre-sent their class and had different booths and activities; such as, a rock climbing wall, a pony ride, hay ride, a car smashing area, a bounce house, a dunking booth, a jail,
etc. According to Mar-lee Butler and Brantley Zich, the 4th grade King and Queen, their favorite part of Fall Festival was the fun games and activities. Natalia Borcious, the 5th grade Queen, was ex-cited to be the queen and said, "My favorite part was being able to dress up." Natalia won the privilege of repre-
senting the entire Ele-mentary School as their Fall Festival Queen. The other winners were Beecher Aldredge and Mary Kathryn Tripp, Cassie McLamb and Jack Taylor, and Stephanie Wills and Elias Dove. These kids, including everyone who went to Fall Festival will agree that it was a blast! By Nainika Nandigama

told the story of how his foot-

Tom Osborne, lead a Bible

Christ as his Savior. He told
students that when he began
to love football in the 3rd
grade God was preparing him
to be in that Bible study under
his Coach’s leadership. “God

The campaign will kick-off in January
2014. We will have 50/50 drawings,
half-time games, alumni tournaments,
and other fun activities to create a
constant stream of funds towards the
project during basketball games. The
phases of the project are:
Phase I—structural
repairs to the roof,
walls, gutters ,and
drains system as well as
aesthetic improvements
to the exterior and
interior of the gym.
Phase II—replace the gym floor
Phase III—replace the bleachers and
stage.
All of these repairs are necessary to
sustain the integrity of the building and
to ensure the safety of our students
and guests as well as improving the
overall experience of visiting our
school.
Our gym is the heart of our school. It
is where many memories are made and
where we meet as a school family for
chapel services, special events, and
athletics. For more information on the
project and how you can be involved
