Mission Statement

The Cairns Golf Club Junior program will endeavour to provide a fun, safe, inclusive and organised junior golf development pathway for participants of all ages. The program will not only focus on golf skills as life skills, fitness and general wellbeing are also of high importance to the program. The Cairns Golf Club is also committed to keeping cost to a minimum to break down financial barriers which may prohibit junior golfers from participating.

Ÿ 8 week programs in conjunction with the school terms. (Weeks 2 to 9) Ÿ Monday Afternoons 4:00pm to 4:45pm and 5:00pm to 5:45pmŸ Tuesday Afternoons 3:30pm to 4:15pm and 4:15pm to 5:00pmŸ Thursday Afternoons 3:30pm to 4:15pm and 4:15pm to 5:00pm Ÿ Girls only class 4:00pm to 4:45pm, Advanced Class 5:00pm to 6:00pmŸ Saturday Mornings - Advanced Classes 8:30am to 9:30am and 9:30am to 10:30amŸ Class sessions are rotated using a rotational circuit. Each week we work on either full

swing, chipping and pitching, putting or on course gamesŸ Classes are subject to change

Registration and payment for students participating in the Rookies, Stars and Master's program are made via the MyGolf website. This website will contain all current information regarding payment details, class times, class dates and any other information that may be relevant to the program. Please go to the link to register your child in a program.

Each Monday afternoon from 3:30pm, we encourage the juniors to participate in 3, 6 and 9 hole events. The cost is $5 per child and goes towards prize vouchers. This is a great way to track progress and improvement using a handicapping system. Subject to cancellation due to weather.

Monthly Medal last Sunday of the month Feb-Nov from 2.30pm.

If your child would like to play on the course at the Cairns Golf Club or in any interclub or district golf events they must be a member of the Cairns Golf Club. Membership categories include Sub Junior and Junior.

Program Pathway

The program is set up into 5 different Stages. To progress to the next stage students will need to achieve a certain score and pass a basic skills test.

Rookies 5 to 7 (modified 3 holes)Ÿ Basic swing fundamentals are introduced (Grip, stance, posture.)Ÿ Are introduced to the 3 main areas of Golf (putting, chipping and the full swing).Ÿ Work on basic motor skills and coordination.Ÿ Core values / etiquette will be introduced to participants. Ÿ Will get the chance to play on the golf course for the first time. Ÿ Fun games based learning environment
