CGI and Special FX in documentary filmBy James Culpin

After using Google Scholar to find CGI and FX in films/documentaries, I had a look at the top option just to start off and found it to provide little information. I then realised I could view the whole document as a PDF giving lots of info.

Another article I found, leading to a PDF document, I found fairly useful as it explains a lot about the boundaries of CGI and how it is fused with real life using examples such as Walking with Dinosaurs and Alien Planet.

I found it fairly difficult to use the SHU online library as I couldn’t find any previews or extracts without getting them but I looked at some of the descriptions and found a couple of interesting, helpful books. One which I managed to find a preview of on Amazon was Animation Art: From pencil to pixel. I found another using Google Books called Special Effects: An introduction to movie magic.

Finally as a bit of extra research, I used normal Google to find any more information. I found an article on how far CGI has come and how good it is today which also included pictures and clips. I found another one on how most documentaries include CGI because of how real it can look.
