Levels of Instruction 1. Grader -a program specific statement of standards for graders 2. Proctor for Computerized Exams and Laboratories

-undergraduate majoring in the discipline -PIE fall conference or departmental equivalent -PIE workshop on Sexual Harassment or equivalent -supervision by the faculty member teaching the course

3. Lab section -undergraduate majoring in the discipline -specific instruction in laboratory demonstration -PIE fall conference or departmental equivalent -PIE workshop on Sexual Harassment or equivalent (see below) -direct supervision by senior lab assistant /or faculty member in the teaching discipline -planned and periodic evaluations of the teaching assistant

4. Recitation/discussion section -undergraduate degree in discipline or related field -some graduate work completed or enrolled for -PIE fall conference or departmental equivalent -PIE workshop on Sexual Harassment or equivalent (see below) -direct supervision by faculty member in the teaching discipline -planned and periodic evaluations of the teaching assistant

Speak Test RequirementsA score of 50 or higher in the Speak test or

26 or higher on the IBTOEFL certifies the person to teach at any level.

A score of 45 or higher is needed for level 1-2, and 3-4 if you are enrolled in a class in the Center for Intensive English Studies.

The Department will give you a grace period of one semester to fulfill this requirement.

Most positions in Computer Literacy are graders.

Ta DutiesAssigned positions

Graders (Everyone will grade some) - minimal English skill requirements. Grade all assignments and exams students. Full time graders will handle about 120 students. Assign range of students to graders alphabetically by last name

. Help Desk Personnel - Field email questions and blogs.

Answer emails from [email protected] and [email protected]

Help Center Personnel - Help students in person in MCH Computer Lab.

Test Administrators - Give online and classroom students exams. Two TAs in each testing room.

New TAs assigned this term: Must have attended the Pi conference. Must attend a CS Department TA Training

Session on BlackBoard conducted by me. Must complete ALL four assignments in

CGS2060/CGS2100 and have them graded by one of your peers (fellow new TAs) before the due date of each assignment.

TA DutiesRead email everyday (my emails are a priority) Answer student emails promptlyRead announcements on Blackboard. Grade assignments as soon as they are posted.

Notify students if the assignment is blank or corrupted. Clear the attempt and allow them to resubmit if it is before the deadline.

ALL Assignments must be graded within 7 work days of the due date ( not counting weekends).

Attend Department/Course meetings especially with me.
