PROGRAM SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION The College House Eco-Reps program is an environmental leadership program that focuses on
raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging sustainable lifestyles on Penn's
campus. The program is managed by sustainability staff in Facilities and Real Estate Services
and is an initiative of the Penn Green Campus Partnership.
Cohorts of Eco-Reps develop educational events, activities, and campaigns aimed at
educating college house residents on sustainable lifestyles and to support the University’s
environmental goals and Climate Action Plan.
This report highlights the diverse programming and initiatives implemented by College House
Eco-Reps in their communities over the course of the 2011-2012 academic year. Initiatives
focused on energy conservation, waste and recycling practices, water conservation strategies,
alternative transportation options, consumer choices, and more.

In Spring 2010, nine Eco-Reps were selected from
a pool of applicants in the College House and
Greek program to form the first Student Executive
Board. Exec members participated in bi-weekly
board meetings and worked in pairs to lead
program meetings and trainings during 2011-12.
The creation of the Exec Board has provided an
avenue for continued engagement in the Eco-Reps
program and an opportunity to move up in an
increased leadership role for students who have
demonstrated exemplary performance.
