Chabi Leather was launched in September, 2012

by Steve Martin and Isabel Macias, in response

to what appeared to be a glaring hole in the

leather apparel and fashion market. Where were

the handcrafted fashions? Everything on the store

racks looked like they were churned out by some

machine. Where were the unique styles?

With Isabel growing up in Ecuador, she knew

firsthand about the amazing leather craftsmen of

her country, so she and Steve began a trek to meet

these wellhidden master artisans. The goal was

simple...find out if it was possible to create a line

of completely unique and stylish leather apparel

and accessories of the highest quality for women

and men alike.

The local leather craftsmen jumped at the

challenge and dove into their work, creating

new designs and a whole new approach to the

art of leather fashion. There would be no mass

production... each item would be painstakingly

created by the hands of the craftsmen. They would

use the world’s finest leather, suede and calfskin

to create leather jackets, boots, purses and more,

all in styles that were unique to Chabi.

In order to expose the new Chabi brand to as many

leather-loving fashion aficionados as possible, the

decision was made to initially launch the Chabi Leather

catalog online, and then form a partnership with select

retailers who adhere to the same principles as Chabi...

This decision allows Chabi to keep prices as low as

possible, without compromising on our commitment

to the highest quality leather apparel.

Chabi then adopted the company slogan

“Expressions of Self,” to represent every person’s

basic need to express themselves as individuals.

With a wide range of leather apparel styles unseen

in retail stores, the expression comes naturally,

and when you arrive on the scene, the attention

will be immediate and overwhelming.

As the Chabi Leather brand grows, we will continue

to expand our product lines to ensure that you

can always find new leather fashions that no one
