The Chad Charlestown Painkiller Have you been to the Caribbean? Are you a fan of mixed drinks on the island side? Jimmy Buffet may have sang about Margaritaville, but in fact he truly liked the legendary island vice: The Painkiller. The Painkiller is also a favorite of many Caribbean de factos such as Kenny Chesney who lives in St. John USVI, and Chad Collins Charlestown who travels there intermittently. So you can truly understand the benefits and joy of the Painkiller drink, let’s start with the original recipe, Chad Collins Charlestown, Painkiller Cocktail - 1 oz Orange juiceOriginal Painkiller Recipe - 1 oz Coconut Cream/Cream of Coconut - 2 oz (or 4) of Dark Rum - 4 oz Pineapple juice - Grated Nutmeg Garnish on top - 1 Maraschino Cherry This drink should come stirred, with ice, and should be served in a hurricane or snifter glass. Sound delicious? Wait until you’ve given it a try! The Chad Charlestown Take You really should try the original before going on to anything more sophisticated or debaucherous, however the way you want to see it is… Regardless of how your taste preferences fall, there is no denying that the Painkiller is a Caribbean classic, and will never die… On the other hand, this is just how Chad Collins Charlestown fits into the story… Story I: The Boat While in the BVI (British Virgin Islands), Chad Collins Charlestown chartered a boat to go to Tortolla, just on the short recommendation that there would be great SCUBA diving and snorkeling in that area. What made this trip different was that they set out at 3:30am in a newly painted black cigarette boat, Chad had repurposed with his band and renamed “The After Party”. Of course they had written it in white ink, recovered with a thin coating of black, so the name was not visible until one shined a black light upon the side of the boat. Anyway… on their way into the BVI, Chad Collins Charlestown and his metaphorical brothers Cal Kingston and Sal Onetti cruised off into the distance at a blistering speed. All they had with them was three coolers (also black) filled with premixed drink mixes (painkillers, bahama mamas, banana whackers…) and each other. The only boat out there, cruising into the Tortolla area amused by their own moves, little did captain Collins Charlestown know there was another vessel out there… watching them.

The Chad Charlestown Painkiller!!Have you been to the Caribbean? Are you a fan of mixed drinks on the island side? Jimmy Buffet may have sang about Margaritaville, but in fact he truly liked the legendary island vice: The Painkiller. The Painkiller is also a favorite of many Caribbean de factos such as Kenny Chesney who lives in St. John USVI, and Chad Collins Charlestown who travels there intermittently.!!So you can truly understand the benefits and joy of the Painkiller drink, let’s start with the original recipe,!!Chad Collins Charlestown, Painkiller Cocktail!!- 1 oz Orange juiceOriginal Painkiller Recipe!- 1 oz Coconut Cream/Cream of Coconut!- 2 oz (or 4) of Dark Rum!- 4 oz Pineapple juice!- Grated Nutmeg Garnish on top!- 1 Maraschino Cherry!!This drink should come stirred, with ice, and should be served in a hurricane or snifter glass. What made this trip different was that they set out at 3:30am in a newly painted black cigarette boat, Chad had repurposed with his band and renamed “The After Party”. Of course they had written it in white ink, recovered with a thin coating of black, so the name was not visible until one shined a black light upon the side of the boat.!!Anyway… on their way into the BVI, Chad Collins Charlestown and his metaphorical brothers Cal Kingston and Sal Onetti cruised off into the distance at a blistering speed. !Story II: Visitors…!!Unfortunately for them, their new black vessel fit the exact description for a recipient in a local drug deal. From a few meters offshore, another black boat watched Chad and his crew flying around in circles in their high powered boat. This boat was expecting a shipment of quite a few kilos of cocaine. About three coolers full, in fact, delivered by a black, non-reflective speed boat. When this boat saw Chad spinning around in circles, one thought crossed their minds: “they’ve already began using the product”.!!Angry, protecting their boss’ investment, a group of three pirates armed with AK-47s sped in a flat 3 seconds over to the boat and attempted to board Chad’s vessel. Though, they decided to do things quietly and, using black coated scuba masks, two of the men swam up toward the boat, planning to take it by surprise, armed with just spearguns.!!Story III: A New Way to Drink…!!While Chad sat on the side shaving nutmeg into his drink, trying a few variations on the mix. Each time he’d take a sip, and pour a little into the water. This time, he managed to pour a little right down into the snorkel pipe of one of the oncoming drug pirates. In order not to give away his position, the pirate was forced to drink the cold drink fast before he drowned. A few times more and there was a school of drunk pirates underneath their boat.!!Eventually, having lost all ambition to rob them, or maybe because Chad and his crew had emptied the coolers into the water and made it visible for them that there were never any drugs aboard, the pirates revealed themselves in a surprisingly friendly manner. Either drunk or needing a place to hold on besides water, they ended up partying with Chad and his crew, neither of which really minded the encounter. …Until the actual boat bearing drugs drove up. That, however, is a whole new story.!!Chad Collins Painkiller Recipe!!The new way to do it, is to mix and drink the cocktail directly into a snorkel mask. Please do this on land, with the idea in mind that yes, even you need to breathe air. Stay safe!
