Fonyo Murek Family Challenge for the William Greenleaf Eliot Society

Kate Fonyo Pisano established the Fonyo Murek

Family Challenge to honor her father, George Fonyo,

AB ’49, and aunt, Lelia Jane Fonyo Murek, AB ’46,

and acknowledge the lasting impact Washington

University has had on her family. “Education

and sharing our time, talents, and treasure are

intrinsic to us as individuals and as a family,” she

says. “Washington University provided a strong

foundation for my dad and aunt, and I believe

their lifelong love of learning is the secret to their

longevity. WashU has influenced my family for

more than seven decades, and I am proud of

our affiliation with the university.” Kate lives in

Baltimore and works as a patient relations specialist

at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
