Challenge of USB redirection in RDP and Citrix
When you work in a remote desktop environment, getting access to USB devices plugged into your local
machine can be quite problematic. Normally you would have to use workarounds like plugging the USB
device into the remote machine directly or having to switch between remote and local session in order to
use the device.
FabulaTech solution
USB for Remote Desktop is an application for redirecting USB devices to your remote session. It
redirects any USB devices to remote desktop environments over RDP or ICA protocols. The remote server
handles redirected USB peripherals as if they were directly plugged into the remote side.
How it works
The program consists of Server and Workstation parts.
The Workstation part is installed on the local computer where USB devices are physically plugged in.
This part does not need any configuration. It allows local USB devices to be redirected into your remote
session over RDP or ICA protocols.
The Server part is installed on the remote computer you are connecting to via RDP or Citrix ICA. USB for
Remote Desktop Server makes redirected USB devices available for logged in user. To connect the
required device simply click on the USB for Remote Desktop icon in the tray context menu in your remote
session and select the device from the list.
