the worship songs will be projected on the screen.

keeping Chalmers scent free. Thank you.

November 20 is Universal Children’s Day
With the aim of helping communities care for
orphans and vulnerable children, Presbyterian
World Service & Development partners started
working in Sobola, Malawi to support a new
Community Based Child Care Centre—and it is
making a big difference for two-year-old Memory
and her family. Before the project, Memory would
stay home while her parents went to work because
there was no care centre in her village. Now
Memory is learning the alphabet, meeting friends
and eating a warm meal everyday under the
supervision of trained caregivers. Memory’s mother
Emily is especially grateful to PWS&D partners for
mobilizing support for the centre—Memory is safe,
happy and well equipped for when she will start
primary school.
PWS&D supports a child’s right to healthcare,
education and play

SALVATION ARMY KETTLE For around 30 years Chalmers Church has
committed to all volunteer hours for the Tim
Hortons /White Oaks Mall Salvation Army kettle.
In 2015 over 70 different members of our
congregation gave selflessly of their time. We do it
knowing that the Salvation Army kettles support the
same mission that we have with our church:
Sharing the love of Christ by being an example of
service to others. Our kettle consistently raises over
$10,000 annually!
The campaign runs November 24 to December 24,
(no Sundays) from 11am to 8pm. Sign-up sheets in
the narthex. Any questions? Speak to Andrew
Thibodeau.
The story our volunteers remember the most are the
few times that people have put money into the
kettle and have told us … “Years ago, I was
recipient of Salvation Army generosity. Now I can
give back.”

Speaking of Stewardship For we brought nothing into the world, so that we
can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and
clothing, we will be content with these. I Timothy 6:7-8

Bake & Craft Sale - Thanks to all who helped make this sale such a huge success. $1,330 was raised and will be applied to the general fund. Thank you.

We’re very excited as we prepare for the arrival
of our next refugee family. This Christian
family consists of 2 grandparents, 2 parents, an
aunt and a one year old. We're hoping for an
arrival by the end of 2016.
The committee is looking for new recruits to
support us. In the meantime we're looking for
transitional housing options while we look for
permanent housing. This could be hosting the
family or providing a home while you winter in
Florida. We're also looking for volunteers to
help coordinate donations. Please contact
[email protected]. We will reach
out soon for needed items.
In the wake of all the violence going on in
Syria we are anxious to bring this family safely
to Canada. What better way to honour the gift
of the Christ child then by sharing your time
and resources? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

the bulletin is available on the Chalmers

LIBRARY NEWS
Winter Haven by Athol Dickson
Another page-turner with just a little bit of eeriness thrown in! Siggy Gamble disappeared 13 years ago
from his home. Vera, his younger sister always felt a little guilty because Siggy was autistic and she
should have been taking more care of him. Now –
after no word for all these years, Vera gets word that her brother’s body has washed up on the shore
of a small island off the coast of Maine. When Vera arrives she has to identify her brother’s body – and
is amazed to find that he has not aged… he looks
exactly as he did when he disappeared all those years ago! This is a strange island she has landed
on with strange people, strange customs and even stranger stories. I was not sure where the story
would go – but did actually enjoy it, and liked how it all worked itself out! Let me know how you enjoy
this book. Christine Hunter, Librarian

PAR (Pre Authorized
Remittance) offering cards
may be found on the table in
the foyer with the Sunday
worship bulletins. If you are on PAR you may wish
to place the offering card on the offering plate as it
is passed as a way of participating in the offering of
our financial gifts for the glory of God. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Our
