DAVID MASSEY and FRANCISCO CORREA CLASSICAL GUITARISTS

MERIMÉE played by ROBIN SOANSCARMEN played by SUZANNE AHMET(actors subject to change)

DIRECTED by NICHOLAS RENTON

Prosper Mérimée is struggling with his latest novella, when his leading character - Carmen - turns up in his study, larger than life, with a band of musicians in tow and chaos in her wake. Which of them controls the narrative? And what will happen when Carmen discovers the nasty ending Mérimée has planned for her?

A fun-filled performance of fantasy, comedy, drama and tremendous music arranged from Bizet's Carmen and Spanish and Spanish-inspired music by Boccherini, de Falla, de Lorca, Granados, Ravel and Albéniz.

Clare Norburn returns with another fascinating creation, following Burying the Dead in 2018.

The CONCERTS IN THE WEST series of MINI-TOURS offers a broad spectrum of Classical and Baroque chamber music. Concerts in the West was launched in 2006.We aim to bring talented young musicians to small venues in the West Country in areas that may not have easy access to music of this quality. Small intensive tours, in Devon, Dorset and Somerset, are arranged for the musicians over a few days. The enthusiasm and skill of these young people is breathtaking and has come about through many years of study. We feel very priviledged to hear them in such intimate settings. The music played at the concerts is enormously varied and gives local audiences a wonderful opportunity to hear both familiar and unusual works for voice and instrument in many combinations.
