2019 Zia Festival
The 2019 Zia Festival will be here before you know it! Please mark your calendars for July 27that Ruidoso Downs. There will also be a NMHBA Town Hall Meeting, a Jamboree Partywith dinner with a dance, and door prizes. New Mexico Bred Stakes races will run bothSaturday and Sunday, come out and see all the talent New Mexico has bred. We will also havea booth up in the grandstand.
Please make sure ALL NM Bred papers are stamped prior tosending them to the Ruidoso Sale. If you do not see our NM Bred stampeither embossed on your QH papers or digitally stamped on the TBpapers, please call the office and we can get it sorted out. Rememberthey are not a NM Bred until they have been stamped and assigned aregistration number.
Mark and Annette McCloy's MisterRiptide on Monday posted thesecond-fastest winning time from 12training races at Ruidoso Downs.Mister Riptide is a registered NewMexico-bred son of Woodbridge, andhe was a $22,000 yearling purchase
at last year's New Mexico-Bred Sale.He is paid into the Mountain Top, Zia,and All American futurities.

Siximoons, a registered 4-year-old son ofchampion First Moonflash trained by MalloryNorton for owners Jerry Bailey and Tres MesaHorses, made his next start in Saturday's Grade1, 400-yard Leo Stakes at Remington Park. Thebay gelding was bred by Mike Abraham, and hewas a finalist in last year's $203,000 New MexicoCup Derby (RG2) at Zia Park.

Roimes Chirinos rodethe homebred 4-year-old Roll Hennessy Roll fillyfor trainer Todd Fincher.
Honky Tonk Daddy outran his 10-1 odds to win Sunday's (5/5/2019) 300-yard, $393,483 NewMexican Spring Futurity (R) at Sunland Park. Ricky Ramirez rode the sorrel Big Daddy Cartelfilly for owner US Alliance Logistic and trainer Jose Luis Muela
Sunland Park ended its 2018-19 meet, and its closing-day program featured two Quarter Horsestakes for registered New Mexico-bred 2-year-olds. Amanda L. Rocha's Koochi Koo, adaughter of Winners Version trained by Jimmy Padgett, won the 300-yard, $50,000 NewMexican Spring Fling (R). Alonso Rivera rode the sorrel filly

Shame On Read is thefirst starter foaled by Courageous Cara, anunraced daughter of the A.P. Indy stallionWaki Indy. Elvin Gonzalez rode the geldingfor trainer Dallas Barton.
NMHBA Changes
CHANGES TO THE EXPORTCHANGES TO THE EXPORTBROODMARE PROGRAMBROODMARE PROGRAM
The NMHBA Trustees voted to amend the timeframe that an owner has to provide the Association withthe forms for Broodmares in Foal to Leave the State of New Mexico. Beginning with the 2019 breedingseason the form and the fee will be due on October 1 of the year bred. The form must be postmarked orreceived in our office by that date (October 1) or the $2000 penalty will be assessed to make the resultingfoal eligible to be a NM bred.The Trustees also voted to eliminate the Broodmares in foal returning to the state of New Mexico form,as our form to register a NM bred foal, details all locations the mares were kept prior to foaling. We willstill be sending affidavits to the farms that receive the mares to foal out, and may visit farms to confirmthe mare and/or foal are on the premises. Failure to return the mare to foal in New Mexico will result inthe foal NOT being registered as a New Mexico bred and that foal will NOT be eligible for the NewMexico bred program. NO refund of fees will be made.These changes were made to allow the owners of the mares going out of state during their pregnancy, tohave their mares confirmed in foal before the member pays the fees.Your mare must still be registered with the association by September 1st of the breeding year.
