Rtn. Kulkarni's birthday

It was senior Rtn. R.N.Kulkarni's birthday last Thursday and it was

celebrated befittingly. The icing on the cake

was Rtn. Kulkarni's donation of artificial limbs to RMMALC on the occasion.

Business MeetingIt was business time at Rotary last Thursday when key issues were discussed among members. Rtn. Abbas Vagh RCLA President made some pertinent points and asked for suitable name/s for the newly constructed hall. It was suggested that groups are formed for projects so that every Rotarian member is involved in one project or the other. This is the best way to empower our members. Our Hon. Treasurer Rtn. S.K.Dinesh spoke..

Dattagalli Integrated School Project progressing well

As noted earlier, our new flagship project, the Dattagalli School, is progressing on expected lines, with construction going on, and just about getting ready to start off atleast KG by the next academic year, assured the Project Chairman PDG Lakshminarayan. A number of Rotarians, N. Ravishankar, C. Ravi, Abbas Vagh, Badari Narayan, among others, (e&oe) were forthcoming with their amounts last Thursday. With the Round Table India contribution also about to happen, things are looking up. There is a need for expert trainers who can train the special teachers of the school. Please lookout for such trainers. Finally PDG Lakshminarayan called for involvement by all Rotarians in terms of time and support towards this ambitious project.

Rotary High School set for Silver Jubilee, and so…How about some TT, Rotarians?

Our Rotary High School has a full-fledged table tennis facility with 3-4 TT tables of competition standard that calls for optimum usage. They also have professional coaches. What is missing is enough player-participants from outside the school students and outside the school hours – in the mornings and evenings. A small fee wouldn't do anyone any harm! How about a summer camp for your kids right away, folks? PDG

Lakshminarayan made a call to Rotarians, Anns and Annettes to participate actively and utilize the club-level services on offer. Play some TT folks…

Or some Music practice?A lot of Rotary families had shown interest earlier in picking up some music. Again Rotary High School has the answer, only waiting for us to get organized and get going.

Rtn. K. Subramanya Rao has been installed as the Hon Secretary of Builders' Association Mysore and Rtn. K. Satish Mohan as a Managing Committee Member.Rotary Mysore congratulates Subbu and Satish on their stellar achievement!

Our artificial l imb center has successfully distributed 216 artificial limbs to the deserving and needy over the year.Kudos to RMMALC and all those behind it!

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta, April 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Members of Alberta's Rotary clubs have played an instrumental role in generating $2.1 million in new money for Rotary International's polio eradication campaign. Alberta Rotarians have raised $350,000, which is being matched by the Province of Alberta, Ministry of Culture. Dear colleagues, I am very happy to inform you that the WHO South-East Asia Region – home to 1.8 billion people – has just been certified polio-free. Please join me in congratulating the Regional Director and all of our colleagues in the Regional and country offices on this historic milestone. SEAR's 11 countries represent the 4th WHO region to be officially certified polio-free by an independent commission. This remarkable achievement is the result of a determined, government-led initiative through which millions of dedicated community health workers and volunteers reached more than 1 billion children with polio vaccines over a 17 year period. We can be proud of WHO's role: our colleagues advised governments on the best operational approaches, worked with researchers to improve vaccine formulations, and travelled long roads and long hours to help find and vaccinate some of the world's most disadvantaged children. Now that 80% of the world's population lives in areas that have been certified polio-free, the goal of eradication is closer than ever. As we step up our effor ts to help the last endemic countries finish the job we will also examine how we can apply the lessons learnt to expand the reach of basic health services to the most vulnerable communities. Congratulations, South-East Asia Region! Dr Margaret Chan
