GEGED is a local youth NGO . It

provides learning opportunities and

integration activities for youth and

children of homeseekers, refugees,

broken families and any  other type

of  fewer opportunities. with the

help from Erasmus+ volunteers.

Since 2007 this NGO hosted more

than 1500 EVS volunteers.  It has a

local network and partnerships with

kindergardens, orphanages,

community centres, Public youth

centres and youth clubs in the town.

GEGED Gaziantep Eğitim ve Gençlik Derneği (GEGED) was establishedin 2007 in Gaziantep city by some teachers and local volunteerswho had done EVS before. Soon after it applied for accreditationfor hosting and sending volunteers. Since 2007 GEGED hashosted aroun 750 volunteers and send over 500 local volunteersto YIA projects and EVS. GEGED is like a volunteer bank of thetown within a network. It is a well known and trusted nongovermental organisation. In our voluntary network there areyouth centres, schools, refugee centres, Daily care cnetresorphanages, municipiatilities, hospitals and puplich bodies. OurMission is to create a strong youth with key competences andnew skills, knowledge and competencies in sociall life and helpthe peace on the World among young people from differentculturas, backgrounds ethnics and races. We also promoteyouth works and voluntary works to Show people that there aremany things to do together which cant be left undone and theyneed free willingness.

  TASKS OF A VOLUNTEER -Helping organisation of activities -Joining workshops and activities -Working in small or big groups -Helping preparation of  materials -İmplementing and active participation of community services of GEGED and its local network. -Helping dissemination works.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE -Motivated to work with kids, teenagers and youth people from difficult background such as migration, socailly and economically disadvanted and educational problems. Age limit: 17-30. Open to all EU member states citizenz or residents.

In th i s case Geged i s not mak ing  mis takes and implement ing non- formal educat ion l i ke in fo rmal way . Our coord inators  and mentors showing us how to work wi th d i f fe rent g roups in f i r s t week and la te r we  a re lead ing a l l the ac t iv i t ies by ourse lves . The connect ion between loca l and Evs  vo lunteers i s wel l - enough and th i s he lp us to overcame language bar r ie r .

As I heard Gaz iantep have  a lmost ha l f mi l l ion re fugees and the in tegra t ion i s a major p roblem. Geged and i t s  vo lunteers team implement ing many ac t iv i t ies fo r in tegra t ion . I t ru ly say that wi th  p rac t i ces and ac t iv i t ies I ’m learn ing more than I ga ined in maste r degree . Two months   in Geged wi l l be my second master , because in un ivers i ty you a re lea rn ing knowledge  but in here you a re c reat ing knowledge .
