The University of San Francisco puts you in THE HEART OF A CITY UNLIKE ANY OTHER. For 166 years, our students have come to one of California’s most diverse, entrepreneurial, forward-thinking cities to gain the knowledge and global networks to build a successful — and meaningful — career. And because we are a Jesuit university, they gain a sense of responsibility for the larger world that equips them to change it for the better.

ACADEMICS

Question EVERYTHING. At USF, it’s not about always having the right answers. It’s about asking the right questions. In small classrooms, our award-winning professors will encourage you to think critically and explore issues from different perspectives. They’ll put you to work on their research and debate theories over coffee. They’ll also connect you with internships in San Francisco so you can apply what you’re learning.

“I was struggling in my chemistry class, but I couldn’t make it to my professor’s office hours. So he made a three-hour gap outside of his own office hours where I could sit down and do problems with him. The professors’ main priority is making sure that you are doing well, because they genuinely care.” — Andrea Boesak ’21, sociology major

(South Africa)

“As a former international student myself, I sometimes thought ‘I don’t want to take up the teacher’s time,’ but at USF, you should take that opportunity to go to your professor’s office and talk to them about class, your career aspirations, or collaborating with them on research.” — Joyce Yang, psychology professor
