“Mama, the sky is quite dark. Is it going to snow?” A small winter rabbit nuzzled against the back of her mother. It was quite a busy day. Yellow, brown and red leaves are quickly falling from the trees and mallard ducks have started migrating to the south. Winter is coming and Jack Frost, as always, was unmerciful in sending chilly bursts of wind. “Hush now, Alpine. We must get ready for winter and we must do this fast or else, our family will starve.” Her mother said as she flattened the bunch of leaves and twigs. Although she was rejected, Alpine left the room with more excitement. On her way to their bedroom, she saw her father in the study and he was in a panicked state. Worried, she entered the room with a big smile and boomed, “Hi Papa!” Her father stopped to look at her and smiled, “What is my little girl up to today?” Alpine giggled and soon after, she jumped into her father’s arms and gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, “Aria and I are waiting for the snow to fall!” Suddenly, there was a shadow on his father’s face. “Dear me,” he said, “ Don’t wish for it now, not now.” “Why not?” Taiga asked. “We haven’t stocked enough food for today and tomorrow. We might starve if it started falling now.” Taiga’s father replied. “But it’s our first time changing coats!” Taiga is beginning to feel down. Her excitement was the same as her parents’ worry. “I guess you’re right. Why don’t you and Aria help me scout for berries then we’ll celebrate your change of coat after the snow has fallen?” Her father suggested and Taiga’s eyes lit up and she zipped towards their room. “Aria!” she shouted once she got there. “Hey there, what did Mama and Papa said?” Aria asked. “Papa said we’ll celebrate if we helped him gather enough food,” Taiga grinned. Aria nodded and dashed out of the room screaming, “Last one out is a slow turtle!” Once they were out, Aria shook her whole body to the cold. The sun was already setting and it meant finding food would be tough. “Okay, so we need snowberries, hazelnuts ,aspen and buffaloberries,” Taiga said. The two young rabbits went out on a hunt. They searched in the field of softly-covered snow of tall grass. Carefully grazed the plots of crops available.

“Mama, the sky is quite dark. Is it going to snow?” A small winter rabbit nuzzled against

the back of her mother. It was quite a busy day. Yellow, brown and red leaves are quickly

falling from the trees and mallard ducks have started migrating to the south. Winter is

coming and Jack Frost, as always, was unmerciful in sending chilly bursts of wind.

“Hush now, Alpine. We must get ready for winter and we must do this fast or else, our

family will starve.” Her mother said as she flattened the bunch of leaves and twigs.

Although she was rejected, Alpine left the room with more excitement. On her way to

their bedroom, she saw her father in the study and he was in a panicked state. Worried,

she entered the room with a big smile and boomed, “Hi Papa!” Her father stopped to

look at her and smiled, “What is my little girl up to today?” Alpine giggled and soon

after, she jumped into her father’s arms and gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, “Aria

and I are waiting for the snow to fall!” Suddenly, there was a shadow on his father’s face.

“Dear me,” he said, “ Don’t wish for it now, not now.”

“Why not?” Taiga asked. “We haven’t stocked enough food for today and tomorrow. We

might starve if it started falling now.” Taiga’s father replied.

“But it’s our first time changing coats!” Taiga is beginning to feel down. Her excitement

was the same as her parents’ worry. “I guess you’re right. Why don’t you and Aria help

me scout for berries then we’ll celebrate your change of coat after the snow has fallen?”

Her father suggested and Taiga’s eyes lit up and she zipped towards their room. “Aria!”

she shouted once she got there. “Hey there, what did Mama and Papa said?” Aria asked.

“Papa said we’ll celebrate if we helped him gather enough food,” Taiga grinned. Aria

nodded and dashed out of the room screaming, “Last one out is a slow turtle!”

Once they were out, Aria shook her whole body to the cold. The sun was already setting

and it meant finding food would be tough. “Okay, so we need snowberries, hazelnuts

,aspen and buffaloberries,” Taiga said. The two young rabbits went out on a hunt. They

searched in the field of softly-covered snow of tall grass. Carefully grazed the plots of

crops available.
