Changing passwords on Mac OS Customized for D-MTEC Users
If the nethz password has been changed, all passwords saved locally that are requested auto-
matically must also be changed. Otherwise, the services listed below will stop working.
The passwords need to be changed/deleted in the following places

ETH-domain computer (Managed MTEC-Computers)
Instructions for computers that are managed by the IT department or local IT Support. Password
changes must always be carried out at the ETH on the ETH network. The device should be con-
nected to the ETH network via a network cable. The following steps must be fol-lowed after
changing the NETHZ password:
1. Reboot the computer
2. Log in with the new password
3. After logging in successfully, you should test all the applications and functions.
If errors or problems occur with any applications or functions, please contact the relevant
IT Support.
Login keychain
After you restart the system, you are prompted to unlock your login keychain.
You have to update the Keychain Password, for these steps you have to enter the old NETHZ
Password.
Select update Keychain Password
Never choose Continue Log In! (This may break your current keychain)

Enter the the old Password
After this process the keychain password will automatically be updated with your actual logon password.
WLAN
(you are advised to delete the passwords for the SSIDs "eth", "eth-5" and "eduroam" and to re-
connect.
1. Turn off the WLAN
2. Start the "Keychain Access" programme via Spotlight or under "/Applications/Utilities"
3. Select "login" under Keychains and select "Passwords" under Category

4. In the search window in the top right-hand corner, search for the entries "eth", "eth-5" and "eduroam", and delete them if they are found.
5. Turn the WLAN back on again 6. Restore the WLAN connection to "eth", "eth-5" and "eduroam" as required.

Outlook 2016
E-mail clients have saved passwords which need to be changed in order to connect successfully
to the e-mail server and send/receive e-mails.
1. Open Outlook 2016 2. Go to "Outlook" -> "Preferences" in the menu bar
3. Open "Accounts"

4. Select your "ETH" account 5. Under "Password": replace the current entry with the new password
6. Close the "Outlook Preferences" 7. Restart Outlook 8. Outlook should now be able to connect to the server successfully with the right pass-
word 9. Test whether e-mails can be sent/received

Mail.app
1. Open "Mail.app" 2. Go to "Mail" -> "Preferences" in the menu bar

3. Change the tab in "Accounts" and select your "ETH" account 4. Under "Password", delete the current entry and type in your new password
5. Close the "Preferences" window 6. Save 7. Restart Mail.app 8. Mail.app should now be able to connect to the server successfully with the right pass-

PIA printers
If a PIA printer is used for printing, there is a saved password which will need to be changed.
Otherwise you will no longer be able to print.
1. Open "Keychain Access" 2. Select "login" under Keychains and select "passwords" under Category, 3. then search for "pia" in the search window in the top right-hand corner. 4. Two entries should appear: "pia01.d.ethz.ch" and "pia02.d.ethz.ch"
5. The password will need to be changed for both entries.

6. Double click on the entry -> click on "Show password" -> type in your Keychain password -> enter new password -> close window and save
7. Repeat the password a second time (if necessary) 8. Test whether printing is possible on all devices

Polybox Desktop Sync Client password
1. If the Polybox Desktop Client is installed on your system, you will also have to change
the password saved here.
2. End Polybox Client
3. Open "Keychain Access" 4. Select "login" under Keychains and select "Passwords" under Category 5. then search for "polybox" in the search window in the top right-hand corner and delete
the entry
6. Start Polybox Client

7. Type in your new password when prompted to do so, then confirm
8. Your Polybox Client should now be online and start synchronising again
Spadmin Password Change
You work with your standard nethz user account for security reasons in order to protect your
computer by preventing making changes that affect everyone who uses the computer, such as de-
leting files that are required for the computer to work or changing settings.
The password should match the password of the nethz user account.
In case if you change the ETHZ Password, we recommend to change the spadmin password to.

Select User and Groups
