Tourist Activities There are so many things that you can do in this Biome!

• Go to the beach and get a tan

• Wine taste in the best biome for grape growing

• Bird watch and experience firsthand the abundant wildlife existing within the Chaparral landscapes

…and so much more!

Seasonal Features When you want to get away from the bone chilling winters, the chaparral is the perfect place for you! With little precipitation all year round, the Chaparral biome is the best place to escape from the never-ending rainy days. The beautiful and warm summers will provide lasting memories with family and friends.

Plants and Animals

Some of the many animals that you might see while visiting the Chaparral include coyotes, mule deer, rabbits, and many insects! The fauna, an animal living in this biome, has adapted to not requiring much water and being nocturnal.

So many different types of flora fill the landscape. Some of these unique and beautiful floras include scrub oak, yucca, and many types of cacti and succulents! The King Protea has adapted to take moisture in from its leaves, which is helpful due to lack of precipitation

Unique Characteristics Many of the bushes and shrubbery within the chaparral biome contain flammable material, yet most of the bark can resist fire

Several of the animals in this biome are nocturnal

Some plants have adapted to the summer fires, by having their seeds not sprout until they have been touched by fire

Environmental issues

• Over development • Excessive fire • Pollution
