Actually, working as a chaplain in a missions setting is serious

business.

You may have to fight the demonic, but we will get to that

The first thing you should know about a missions chaplain, you

will have to develop the ability to be a healing presence.

Why is chaplaincy in a mission/homeless shelter setting an important job?

The place where I stay is a missions base / homeless shelter.

Every day, new people are coming in to stay at the shelter, attempting to get their life back

on track.

The role of our chaplain’s job in this situation can include several duties; anything from being the image of Christ, to being that

special someone who helps get the struggling person’s emotions

and life back together.

Let’s say there is a new member to our shelter. Poor and broken,

he needs counseling..

The Word states that what you have done to help this man, you

have done to Christ directly.

Even if it means just listening to him talk, which is an important

part of the healing process.

A person who has received loving attention is going to be a

significantly happier person. This is the primary importance of

missions chaplains — that the inner needs of anyone might be attended to, and that the love of

Christ might be shared.

Happier people are healthier people, and healthier people are more able to function in every

day life. Some of those who visit the mission are broken beyond

function.

on the inside, so they may function in their outward role in

Letting the Holy Spirit speak simply means listening to God,

and what he has to say about this individual person.

This brings ministry and instruction to those who may not

know God, or feel like they cannot talk to him.

Sharing the truths of the Word is important because it sends forth a sword — the Word of God into their spirit, fighting the demonic

and the lies of Satan.

It is important to respect the needs of the person, to help

assure that you do not offend them.

The goal is to help those fight a spiritual war who are helpless —without losing their heart. Use discernment, and loving care.

What exactly is the work of a chaplain?

Chaplaincy consists of offering spiritual counseling to those in

need, regardless of their individual spiritual beliefs, within

a specified setting.

This means that as a Christian chaplain, you would have to

provide counseling and spiritual support to a person, without it directly relating to Christianity.

Chaplains may get to share the gospel after a while of knowing a

person, or they may deal with people who are Christians as well,

making things simpler.

Just remember, you don’t have to preach at anybody

serve Christ.

How does the work of a missions chaplain differ

from other areas of chaplaincy?

Missions chaplaincy, in my situation, is a job that deals with the lost, the broken, and those

who do not know Christ.

Addicts, those who are homeless, those who just need help; these are all people types who come

into the mission.

races and personalities to succeed in this type of situation.

The importance of a Missions Chaplain

You never know what kind of lives you are going to touch when you work for Christ.

Working as a missions chaplain is no exception.

Oh yeah, and as far as the demons go..

If your life is hidden in Christ, and you are redeemed out of

the world, he has given you the authority to cast out demons.
