Actually, working as a chaplain in a missions setting is serious

business.

You may have to fight the demonic, but we will get to that

later.

The first thing you should know about a missions chaplain, you

will have to develop the ability to be a healing presence.

The first thing you should know about a missions chaplain, you

will have to develop the ability to be a healing presence.

Here are a few aspects of being a healing presence..

Remember I mentioned being a healing presence?

A healing presence is..

•One who listens well.

Page 23: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

•One who helps healing take place in the speakers life, by simply

being present.

Page 24: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

The Holy Spiritwill also help healing take

place with whoever you are speaking with.

Why is chaplaincy in a mission/homeless shelter setting an important job?

Question 1:

Page 26: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

The place where I stay is a missions base / homeless shelter.

Page 27: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

The place where I stay is a missions base / homeless shelter.

Every day, new people are coming in to stay at the shelter, attempting to get their life back

on track.

Page 28: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting
Page 29: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

The role of our chaplain’s job in this situation can include several duties; anything from being the image of Christ, to being that

special someone who helps get the struggling person’s emotions

and life back together.

The Word of God:Your foundation for chaplain

work.

Page 32: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto

one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto

me.”Matthew 25:40

Page 33: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

These words are the cornerstone for Christian chaplain work.

Page 34: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

These words are the cornerstone for Christian chaplain work.

We desire to serve others, for what we do to the least of men,

we will have done to Christ himself.

Let’s say there is a new member to our shelter. Poor and broken,

he needs counseling..

Page 37: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting
Page 38: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

The Word states that what you have done to help this man, you

have done to Christ directly.

Even if it means just listening to him talk, which is an important

part of the healing process.

Page 45: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

A person who has received loving attention is going to be a

significantly happier person. This is the primary importance of

missions chaplains — that the inner needs of anyone might be attended to, and that the love of

Christ might be shared.

Page 46: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Happier people are healthier people, and healthier people are more able to function in every

day life. Some of those who visit the mission are broken beyond

function.

Page 47: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

function.

As a missions chaplain, your job is to help those who are broken

on the inside, so they may function in their outward role in

life.

Page 53: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Letting the Holy Spirit speak simply means listening to God,

and what he has to say about this individual person.

Page 54: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Letting the Holy Spirit speak simply means listening to God,

and what he has to say about this individual person.

This brings ministry and instruction to those who may not

know God, or feel like they cannot talk to him.

Page 55: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Share the truths of the Word.

Page 56: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Sharing the truths of the Word is important because it sends forth a sword — the Word of God into their spirit, fighting the demonic

and the lies of Satan.

Page 57: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Respect the needs of the person.

Page 58: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

It is important to respect the needs of the person, to help

assure that you do not offend them.

The goal is to help those fight a spiritual war who are helpless —without losing their heart. Use discernment, and loving care.

Page 59: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

What exactly is the work of a chaplain?

Question 2:

Page 60: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Chaplaincy consists of offering spiritual counseling to those in

need, regardless of their individual spiritual beliefs, within

a specified setting.

Page 61: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Chaplaincy consists of offering spiritual counseling to those in

need, regardless of their individual spiritual beliefs, within

a specified setting.

This means that as a Christian chaplain, you would have to

provide counseling and spiritual support to a person, without it directly relating to Christianity.

Page 62: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Chaplains may get to share the gospel after a while of knowing a

person, or they may deal with people who are Christians as well,

making things simpler.

Page 63: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Just remember, you don’t have to preach at anybody

serve Christ.

Page 64: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

How does the work of a missions chaplain differ

from other areas of chaplaincy?

Question 3:

Page 65: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Missions chaplaincy, in my situation, is a job that deals with the lost, the broken, and those

who do not know Christ.

Page 66: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

who do not know Christ.

Those who work as a chaplain in a missions base may be the first to share Christ with someone.

Addicts, those who are homeless, those who just need help; these are all people types who come

into the mission.

Page 68: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

A chaplain must be flexible and willing to work with peoples of all

races and personalities to succeed in this type of situation.

The importance of a Missions Chaplain

Page 71: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

“Thank you. I appreciate what you have done for my family.”

Page 72: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

You never know what kind of lives you are going to touch when you work for Christ.

Working as a missions chaplain is no exception.

Page 73: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

Oh yeah, and as far as the demons go..

Page 74: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Page 75: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

-Mark 16:17

Page 76: Chaplaincy in a Missions setting

If your life is hidden in Christ, and you are redeemed out of

the world, he has given you the authority to cast out demons.
