parent, typically formed through divorce, widowhood, adoption by single people, and births to single women.

Chapter 13-2• Family Law –The legal regulation of marriage,

divorce, and the duties of parents and children.• Child Abuse – The mental, physical, or sexual

mistreatment of a child.• Foster Homes – Homes of people who are

unrelated to a child but who agree to act as the child’s caregivers.

states the marriage has problems that cannot be resolved.
