Europeans trading with Natives – for mutual benefit.

Trade = more then just goods, a meeting of cultures.

The Natives had furs, the Europeans had metal pots and knives.

Animal fur was more profitable then fish.

As a result, fishing was no longer the main economic activity…

Pierre Chauvin - Tadoussac, 1600.

Abandoned by 1601 - Tadoussac remained in the hands of the Amerindians.
