(sorted by date of Þrst arrival in our group)
Manuel Langer, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf,Germany
Manuel Langer is a PhD Student from the group of Dr. Kilian Lenz. His research focus lies on nanomagnetism and tailoring of the prop-erties of magnetic materials. In his diploma thesis, he investigatedantiferromagnetically coupled CoFe/Ru/CoFe trilayers, patternedby focused ion beam irradiation. During his visit, we discussedresults and possible applications of ion-beam patterning for sev-eral magnetic systems, including patterned storage media and spinwave guides.
21.01. - 23.01.2013
Dmytro Bozhko, National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv,Ukraine
Dmytro Bozhko was a graduate student working in the magnetismgroup of Prof. G. A. Melkov at the National University of Kyiv. Af-ter his visits in 2011 and 2012 he visited us this year for 2 monthsto investigate the temporal dynamics of parametrically controlledmagnon gases and condensates. Dmytro signiÞcantly improvedthe adjustment procedure of the wavevector resolved BLS setupand obtained new interesting results on the density distributionof dipolar-exchange magnons in the low-energy spectral area. InSeptember this year he has joined our group as a PhD student.
01.03. - 26.04.2013
Dr. Andrey Nikitin, Electrotechnical University St. Petersburg,Russia
Dr. Andrey Nikitin is a member of the group of Prof. B. Kalinikoswith whom we have a long and productive cooperation record. This time Dr. Nikitin experimentally investigated magneticallycontrolled magnonic crystals. The stay of Dr. Nikitin was sup-ported in the framework of our German-Russian project Coherentnonlinear spin-wave states in ferromagnetic Þlms and ferromag-netic/ferroelectronic layered structures (DFG RUS 113/644/0).
25.03. - 05.05.2013
Akihiro Kirihara, NEC Corporation, Tsukuba,Japan
Akihiro Kirihara is a visiting researcher, belonging to Smart En-ergy Research Laboratories of NEC Corporation. In NEC, heworks on the development of thermoelectric devices using the spin-Seebeck effect (SSE). He now stays in our group, and joins exper-imental projects related to the SSE and spin pumping. He is goingto stay here till the end of March 2014.

Prof. Olle Eriksson, Uppsala Universitet,Sweden
Prof. Olle Eriksson together with 5 members of his group(Jonathan Chico, Manuel Pereiro López, Raghuveer Chimata,Corina Etz, Angela Burlamaki) visited us for a one day mini-workshop. During the workshop both groups presented their work, and exchange ideas how to meet spin-dynamics simulations withour magnon research. The foundations for future collaboration be-tween our group and Prof. Olle Erikssons group have been estab-lished.
26.06. - 28.06.2013
Prof. Gennadii A. Melkov, National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv,Ukraine
This year the regular visit of Prof. Melkov to our group was sup-ported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in the frame ofthe SFB/Transregio 49 Condensed Matter Systems with Vari-able Many-Body Interactions. During his stay Prof. Melkov wasmainly working on different aspects of phonon-magnon interac-tions in parametrically and thermally driven magnetic insulators. The recent results of our joint work have been presented on theMagnonics Conference in Varberg, Sweden, the JEMS in Rhodes,Greece, and the EASTMAG Conference in Vladivostok, Russia.
01.07. - 26.08.2013
Dr. Alexy Karenowska, University of Oxford,United Kingdom
Alexy Karenowska is Junior Research Fellow in Clarendon Lab-oratory of University of Oxford and our long-term collaborator.During her visit in Kaiserslautern we have spent a very useful daydiscussing the perspectives, trends and problems of the Þeld ofmagnonic crystals and magnon spintronics in general. The cross-sections of the research interest which might result in future jointprojects have been deÞned.
