Why did the United States and the Soviet Union become enemies after WWII?

• The Soviet Union hoped to spread communism and the United States was in favor of capitalism and democracy.

• This race to control countries was called the Cold War and the U.S. used a policy called containment.

What was the purpose of The Truman Doctrine? How did the Marshall plan

fit with the goals of the Truman Doctrine?

• The Purpose of the Truman Doctrine was to give aid to countries fighting against Communism. The Marshall Plan gave aid to help Western European countries recover from war.

• Some women would be okay with giving up their job, they were happy the war was over.

• Other women would be upset with the Government and want to keep their jobs.
