bombed. December 9, 1941; the residents of Manila

Aparri and Vigan. Followed more forces arrived at Legaspi,

South of Luzon.

Soldiers became prisoners of war.

April 9, 1942 the 90-mile walk was started

and ended up in 6 days at camp ODonell. From Mariveles, Bataan to Tarlac but latter

moved again to Cabanatuan in Pangasinan.

The POWs were forced to walk in a line

next to the stream but the Japanese soldiersdid not allow any of the prisoners to drinkfrom it.

Several men could no longer take it tothe next step. They fell on the road and a

tank flattered them. The Japanese soldiers forced the

prisoners to drink from the stream offilthy water.

More than 50, 000 Filipinos and Americansdied.

o A man made island off Bataan.

o Was a stronghold of the filipino andAmerican soldiers

o Gen.Wainwright defended it almost with

a superman process.

o Around 12,000 shells were dropped overCorregidor Island in 24 hours

Soldiers, women and children were allhuddled together in the underground, theMalinta Tunnel.

o Through the constant bombing and

shaking of the earth, Gen.Wainwright tolowered the American flag.

o Again the Japanese showed theirignorance and cruelties.

o Gen.Marshall awarded Wainwright theMedal of Honor.

o At the end of the Pacific war both theFilipinnos and American soldiers suffered

16,000 casualties in the battle of thePhilippines.

o 84,000 suffered repressions of theJapanese

o Half of the 20,000 American troops whowere captured died in Captivity.

August 9, 1945 another B-29 bomber piloted byMaj.Charles W. Sweeney tooks its flights towardsKokura

The plane name bocks car was carrying a plotoniumbomb nickname FatMan

August 15, 1945 Japan surrendered to the allied forces September 2, 1945 boarded the battleship Missouri at

Tokyo Bay. It was then remembered the V-day ofJapan.
