Societal rules, fear (of appearing weak ), and lack of skill in expression are the main obstacles faced while trying to communicate emotions
Obstacles
Bonus (2pts) In 75 words: How does Daryl (above picture) relate to these obstacles?
![Page 8: Chapter 7: Emotional Messages](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052523/555341fcb4c90503618b4873/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
The first step in expression come sin understanding what it is you are feeling and being able to describe this feeling.
Know what it is you want to communicate to the receiver by expressing these emotions
Consider the best way to communicate Own your feelings and practice I-
messages (I get angry when you come home late without calling)
Expressing Emotions
![Page 9: Chapter 7: Emotional Messages](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052523/555341fcb4c90503618b4873/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Emotions do not last if you express them. There are no "shoulds" when it comes to feeling emotions. It does not matter whether you "should" feel angry. If you do feel angry, you need to express that emotion in a safe way.
Repressed emotions only grow stronger, so you can feel a little bit angry right now or extremely angry later. The way to diffuse a powerful emotion is to express it.
Keep In Mind…
