Types of Leadership

• Autocratic LeadersLeader give direct orders with detailed

instruction . Employees are well aware of what, when, and how work is to be performed. Auto cratic leadership is necessary for tightend security at locations like park, concerts, and sporting events. This type of leadership doesn’t encourage employees to think for themselves.

Democratic Leaders

• Encourage employees to participate in planning work, solving work related problems, and making decisions.

• Employees are more responsive to work changes that occur.

• Employees are more likely to feel like stakeholders in this situation

(MRT)- is based on the premise that both parties come out ahead. Both parties standing are improved by the work that was completed.

• Rewards may be money, special benefits, public recognition of total efforts, or a combination of all of these.

• Change is a constant in all aspects of business.

• All managers must be prepared for the eventual change in the organization.

• Employees can be resistant to change.

Soft Issues

• Soft Issues: Include attitudes, mindsets,

and states of mind. Soft issues are human issues are that are difficult to measure but they must be considered for change to occur.

• Change requires leaders to modify the ways that people think, behave, and manage.

Hard Issues

• Downsizing : When there is a reduction in the size of the workforce.

• Severance packages may be offered to employees in good standing and may be structured with salary, career training, or assistance with locating a job.

Reductions in the Workforce

DownsizingOccurs when an organization reduces its

number of employees.

Severance Packages A full or partial salaries for several weeks or

months and allows employees time to locate new jobs. Personal training and career counseling happens in quality jobs.

The type of leadership necessary for successful changes.

Visionary leadership are individuals who have the vision of the future. Vince Lombardi,Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Gordie Johnson, Walter Bowden, and Bill Parcells are all example on people with these skills.

Enlightened leadership means to bring out the best in people.
