GREENWOOD, INDIANA TEAM INDIANA L2 Monthly Meeting Information:
Chapter L2 of the Indiana District of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month at MCL, 3630 S. East Street,
Indianapolis, IN. Please join us to dine at 3:00p.m. and the meeting starts at 4:00p.m. Everyone is always welcome!
Hello members!
Well we made it through the month of April. I know chapter
L-2 had two of our members who have had the Covid 19
Virus and I have heard they are both home and doing well.
They are Sandy Clayton and Kelly Martin. This has been a
very different and difficult spring but we have not lost
anyone to this pandemic which is a wonderful thing and we
still have the summer to look forward to.
Even though this has been a very different spring, we have
to take a minute to think about all the positive things that
have come from being quarantined at home:
1. The air is purer
2. The water is cleaner
3. Less pollution
4. The yard work is or is almost done
5. I have learned to cook which has saved us some
calories and $$$
6. The house is cleaner
7. I have Read more and have taken some online
classes with GWRRA
8. And I have a whole new appreciation for my family
and friends. I have missed them all dearly.
We have been given this time to slow down, plan some great
rides, spend quality time with our families and just
appreciate each day. Hopefully you have all mapped out
some great rides to take and or a vacation to enjoy.
Joe has worked in the yard and has completed our new
swing gazebo and I just love it. The dogs and I are swinging
every day. (see picture) Now we have a great place to get
together and still be able to “Social Distance” We can’t wait
to have everyone over to party with us.
Everyone, please be safe and please take care of yourselves
and if you need anything, let us know.
If the chapter has any events planned, we will let you know.

Rider Education Article for May: TOPIC: Let’s Get Ready to Ride!
Its finally spring and the weather is warming up. There are
three things to consider when getting ready for a new riding
season
1. Preparing your bike 2. Preparing your gear 3. Preparing yourself
There are many inspection checklists for your bike. MSF has a
good one as does GWRRA. Most are based upon the TCLOCS
system. I like the GWRRA N.17 version, but the others are also
very good.
Inspecting your riding gear for proper fit and for condition is
fairly straight forward. One thing to keep in mind is the idea
that “if you ever want to use it later in life, cover it up” saying
when speaking of motorcycle safety gear. Do the zippers and
snaps work? Is the material in good condition? Does it fit
properly? Pay extra close attention to the helmet. Check the
made on date. Check the fit. Check the padding for condition.
Finally getting yourself ready after the long winter. Start out
slow with some quick practice drills.
Slow speed turning, cornering, straight line braking, collision
avoidance. Take a few minutes to acclimated in a safe area
before heading out on that first long ride.

May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. With everyone being cooped up due to
the Coronavirus, nice weather along with restrictions starting to be lifted,
more people will be getting out. Please be careful of people who are in a
hurry, anxious to be out and about, and may not be looking twice! Stay
Safe!
May Facts:
The month of May was named for the Greek goddess Mala. She was the
goddess of fertility. The Romans had a similar goddess named Bona Dea.
They held the festival for Bona Dea during the month of May. The Romans
called the month Maius. The name changed over the years. It was first
called May in the 1400’s near the end of the Middle Ages. And now you
know!
The flower for May is: Lilly of the Valley
The birthstone for May is: Emerald
