CHAPTER V
ANALYSIS OF INTER –INDUSRIAL ESTATE
PERFORMANCE VARIATIONS
In this chapter data collected oninfrastructure issues, constraints and
performance scores of business units in different industrial estates in Goa
(Corlim, Margao, Sancoale, Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim, Honda, Bethoda,
Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and
Colvale) and as a whole were analyzed with reference to the objectives and
hypotheses by performing differential analysis and, the results obtained thereby
have been interpreted.
The purpose of convenience and the main aim of the study that the
different aspects of chapter V of the study have been organized under the
following sections:
1. Differential statistics with one way ANOVA
2. Correlation analysis
3. Regression analysis

SECTION I
In this section, the infrastructure issues, constraints and performance
scoresof business enterprises of different Industrial Estate in Goa were
compared (Corlim, Margao, Sancoale, Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim, Honda,
Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai
and Colvale) and the results are presented in the form of tables.
INFRASTRURE:
1. H0: There are no significant variations among business enterprises of
different industrial estates in Goa with regard to infrastructure issues.
H1: There are significant variations among business enterprises of different
industrial estates in Goa with regard to infrastructure issues.
One way ANOVA test was applied to test the hypothesis. The results are
presented in table 5.1

From the results of the table 5.1, it can be seen that a significant
difference is observe among business enterprises of different industrial estates
in Goa (Corlim, Margao, Sancoale, Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim, Honda, Bethoda,
Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and
Colvale) with regard to infrastructure issues scores (F=14.8797, p<0.05) at 5%
level of significance. Hence, the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative
hypothesis is accepted. It denotes that the infrastructure issues scores are
different in different industrial estates in Goa (Corlim, Margao, Sancoale,
Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim, Honda, Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda,
Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale).
However, F-value found to be significant. Hence, to know the pair wise
comparison of different industrial estates in Goa with regard to infrastructure
issues scores, the Tukeys multiple posts hoc procedures is applied and results
are presented in table 5.2.

From the results, it can be seen that:
• The business enterprises belongingto Corlim industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to business
enterprises belonging to Margao, Sancoale, Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim, Honda,
Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai
and Colvale industrial estates at 5% level of significance. Hence, the
enterprises belonging to Corlim industrial estate have higher infrastructure
issues scores as compared to Margao, Sancoale, Mapusa, Tivim, Bicholim,
Honda, Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne,
Madkai and Colvale industrial estates.
• The business enterprises belonging to Margao industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to business
enterprise belonging to Mapusa, Tivim, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, and
Madkaiindustrial estateat 5% level of significance. Hence, the business
enterprises of Margao industrial estate have higher infrastructure issues scores
as compared to Mapusa, Tivim, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Madkai
industrial estates. However, business enterprises belonging to Margao
industrial estate do not differ as compared to business enterprises belonging to
other industrial estates except Mapusa, Tivim, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna,
Cuncolim, Madkai industrial estates with respect to infrastructure issues
scoresat 5% level of significance.

• The business enterprises belonging to Sancoale industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to business
enterprises belonging to Verna and Cuncolim industrial estates at 5% level of
significance. It denotes that the business enterprises belonging Sancoale
industrial estate havehigher infrastructure issues scores as compared to Verna
and Cuncolim industrial estates. However, businessenterprises belonging to
Sancoale industrial estatedonot differ as compared to business enterprises of
other industrial estates except Verna and Cuncolim industrial estatesat 5% level
of significance.
• The business enterprises belonging to Mapusa industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issue scores as compared to
enterprises belonging to Bicholim industrial estate at 5% level of significance.
Hence, the enterprises belonging to Mapusa industrial estate has higher
infrastructure issue scores as compared to Bicholim industrial estate. However,
business enterprises belonging to Mapusa industrial estate do not differ as
compared to other business enterprises belonging to other industrial estates
except Bicholim industrial estate at 5% level of significance.
• The business enterprises belonging to Tivim industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to
industries belongingto Bicholim industrial estateat 5% level of significance.
Hence, the businesses enterprises belonging to Tivim industrial estate have

higher infrastructure issue scores as compared to Bicholim industrial estate.
However, business enterprises of Tivim industrial estate do not differ as
compared to business enterprises belonging to other industrial estates except
Bicholim industrial estateat 5% level of significance.
• The business enterprises belonging to Bicholim industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to business
enterprises belonging to Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim and Madkai
industrial estates at 5% level of significance. Hence, the businesses enterprises
belonging to Bicholim industrial estate have higher infrastructure issues scores
as compared Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim and Madkai industrial estates.
However, enterprises belonging to Bicholim industrial estate do not differ as
compared to enterprises belonging to other industrial estates except Tuem,
Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim and Madkai industrial estates at 5% level of
significance.
• The business enterprises belonging to Honda industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to
business enterprises belonging to Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda,
Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale industrial estate at 5% level of
significance. Hence, the enterprises belonging Honda industrial estate and
Bethoda, Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai
and Colvale industrial estates have similar infrastructure issues scores.

• The business enterprises belonging to Bethoda industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to
business enterprises to Kundai, Canacona, Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim,
Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale industrial estates at 5% level of significance.
Hence, the business enterprises belonging to Bethoda and Kundai, Canacona,
Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale industrial
estates have similar infrastructure issues scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Kundai industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to business
enterprises belonging to Verna and Cuncolim industrial estateat 5% level of
significance. It denotes that the business enterprises belonging to Kundai
industrial estate have higher infrastructure issue scores as compared to Verna
and Cuncolim industrial estates However, business enterprises belonging to
Kundai industrial estate do not differs as compared to enterprises belong to
other industrial estate except Verna and Cuncolim industrial estates at 5% level
of significance.
• The business enterprises belonging to Canacona industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issue scores as compared to
industries belonging to Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and
Colvale industrial estate at 5% level of significance. Hence, the enterprises

belonging to Canacona and Tuem, Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai
and Colvale industrial estates have similar infrastructure issues scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Tuem industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issue scores as compared to
business enterprises belonging to Kakoda, Verna, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai
and Colvale industrial estates at 5% level of significance. Hence, the business
enterprises belongingto Tuem and Kakoda, Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and
Colvale industrial estates have similar infrastructure issues scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Kakoda industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issuesscores as compared to
enterprises belonging to Verna, Pilerne, and Madkai and Colvaleindustrial
estates at 5% level of significance. Hence, the industries belonging to Kakoda
and Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale industrial estates have similar
infrastructure issues scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Verna industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issue scores as compared to
business enterprises belonging to Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale
industrial estates at 5% level of significance. Hence, the business enterprises
belonging to Verna industrial estate and Cuncolim, Pilerne, Madkai and
Colvale industrial estates have similar infrastructure issue scores.

• The business enterprises belonging to Cuncolim industrial estates do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to
business enterprises belonging Pilerne, Madkai and Colvale industrial estates at
5% level of significance. Hence, business enterprises belonging to Cuncolim
and Pilerne, Madkai and Colvaleindustrial estates have similar infrastructure
issue scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Pilerne industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issue scores as compared to
business enterprises belonging to Madkai and Colvale industrial estates at 5%
level of significance. Hence, the Business enterprises belonging to Pilerne and
Madkai and Colvale industrial estates have similar infrastructure issue scores.
• The business enterprises belonging to Madkai industrial estate do not
differ significantly with regard to infrastructure issues scores as compared to
industries belonging to Colvale industrial estate at 5% level of significance.
Hence, the industries belonging to Madkai and Colvale industrial estates have
similar issue scores. The mean scores are presented in figure 5.1

However, it is found that F-value is significant, hence to know the pair wise

• The business enterprises belonging to Mapusa industrial estate differ
significantly with regard to constraints scores as compared to business

enterprises belonging to Mapusa industrial estate have higher scores of

industrial estate have higher scores of company’s normal production level
affected due to constraints as compared to Kundai, Tuem and Cuncolim
industrial estates. Moreover, business enterprises belonging to Tivim industrial
estates do not differ as compared to business enterprises of other industrial
estates except Kundai, Tuem, Cuncolim industrial estates at 5% level of
significance.

significantly with regard to constraints scores as compared to business

significantly with regard to constraints scores as compared to business
enterprises belonging to Canacona and Verna industrial estates at 5% level of
significance. Hence, the business enterprises belonging to Kundai industrial
estate have higher scores of company’s normal production level affected due to
constraints as compared to Canacona and Verna industrial estates. Moreover,
business enterprises belongingto Kundai industrial estate do not differ as

SECTION III
In this section, influence of constraints and infrastructure on
performance scores of business enterprises of different industrial estates in Goa
is studied to find out the significant influencing variable of performance. The
level of Performance of business enterprises generally depends on availability
of infrastructure as well as constraints faced by them. Hence,infrastructure and
constraints are considered as the independent variables of performance scores.
