A New
Game
• When Dill arrives for the summer, he, Jem, and Scout decide to play a new game: “Boo Radley.”
• They take turns portraying the members of the Radley family, and acting out the incident when Boo stabbed his father.
• When Atticus sees them, he forbids them from playing the game again.
• Scout ends up on the Radley’s lawn when the tire she is riding in goes the wrong way.– She heard laughter coming
from inside the house.

decide to go to the Radley’s to peep through the windows.
• Mr. Nathan Radley (Boo’s brother) hears them and fires his shotgun at Jem.
• Jem loses his pants on the fence.
• Jem goes back to look for his pants, and finds that they are neatly folded and the tears have been sewn up.
In the Knothole…
• Since they first found the gum, Jem and Scout have found many items in the knothole of the oak tree in front of the Radley place.
• One day they find perfectly carved dolls – a boy and a girl.
• Another day, they get a pocket watch and penknife.
• After they leave a thank-you note in the knothole, it is filled with cement by Mr. Nathan Radley.
• The children are devastated.
