DANIELThanks man!

Adam goes to follow them in, but is stopped.

BOUNCER

Not you.

ADAMWhat? You can’t be serious!

CHERIEBruce, it’s ok. He’s with me.

BOUNCERI know...but we’ve got standards,you see.

The bouncer points down at Adam’s feet, and Cherie groans.

He is wearing an old pair of thongs underneath his jeans.

CHERIEThongs? Are you fucking serious?

ADAM(indignant)

What? They’re comfy.

CHERIEAnd this is a classy place, Adam.What did you expect?

DANIELWe can go somewhere else...

CHERIENo, we’re not. Come on Daniel,let’s dance.

Cherie grabs Daniel by the arm, and he waves apologeticallyat Adam as he is dragged into the club. Adam walks away,annoyed. Looking across the road, he spots a Japaneserestaurant. Smiling and clicking his fingers, he jogs acrossthe road and stands near the door. An old man and his wife,arm in arm, begin to walk into the restaurant when Adam putshis arm out.

ADAMExcuse me, sir. And madame. I’mafraid I’m going to have to askthat you take your shoes off beforeentering.

OLD MANWhat? Our shoes!?

ADAM(pointing at sign)

This is a traditional Japaneserestaurant, sir. We adhere to all

manner of ancient Japanesetraditions. You wouldn’t want tooffend our workers, would you?

OLD MANYou don’t look Japanese...

ADAM(feigning offence)

How...dare...you! My parentsbrought me to this country to avoidthat kind of discrimination, justbecause my skin is not...

OLD WOMANHarold! We’re sorry, dear. Here.

Still admonishing her husband, the couple take their shoesoff and hand them to Adam, who waves them inside with agrin. Throwing the woman’s shoes aside, he quickly replaceshis thongs with the man’s dress shoes, and jogs confidentlyback to the bouncer.

BOUNCERWhat are you doing back here?

ADAMNew shoes, my good man. If youdon’t mind...

Adam motions to walk past the bouncer, but he puts his handout and stops him.

BOUNCERThis line is for VIPs only.

ADAMBut I was just with Cherie...

BOUNCER(amused)

Yes, you...were. Please, line upwith the other patrons over there.

Adam looks at the other line, which is now longer thanbefore. Clicking his fingers again, he runs across the roadand grabs the woman’s shoes, and runs back to the bouncer.

ADAM(handing him the shoes)

Will these do as payment?

BOUNCER(confused)

The shoes?

OLD WOMANMy shoes! Somebody has stolen myshoes!

From across the road, the old woman and her husband standout the front of the restaurant, looking for the missingshoes. The old man spots the bouncer holding them, andbegins to walk towards him.

OLD MANHow dare you steal my wife’s shoes!

BOUNCERWhat?

The old man takes his walking stick, and cracks it againstthe bouncers leg. He falls down with a yelp, and Adam takeshis chance. He runs into the club grinning at hiscleverness. He breaks onto the dancefloor, and his jawdrops. He is surrounded by a sea of attractive women.

ADAMHummuna...hummuna...hummuna...

Suddenly, somebody tugs Adam’s sleeve and pulls him off thefloor.

ADAMNo! What are you doing!?

DANIELIt’s me! How’d you get in?

ADAMMy natural charm and wit.

DANIEL

(grinning)I’m digging the shoes, man.

ADAMWhere’s Cherie?

Daniel grimaces, and points towards the stage. Cherie isdancing near the DJ booth, grinding up and down to thescreams of approval from the males in the crowd.

ADAMGood, she’s out of our hair. OK,what’s the plan of attack?

DANIELPlan of attack?

ADAMLook at the poon on the floor, man!Tell me, whats the differencebetween me, and a lazy man’scarpet?

DANIELWhat?

ADAMI’m getting laid tonight!

DANIEL(laughing)

I’ll believe it when I see it.

ADAMYeah, well you’ll believe it whenyou help me.

DANIELWhy would I help you?

ADAMBecause I don’t know if you haven’t

noticed in your ten trips to thebathroom mirror each day, butyou’re actually a good looking guy.

DANIELAre you coming onto me? Because Ihave to tell you know, I’m notinterested!

ADAMI’m offering you the chance of alifetime, my friend. The chance tobe my wingman.

DANIEL(sarcastically)

Where do I sign?

ADAMJust go with it...here we go.

Adam points behind Daniel, where two attractive brunettesare at the bar awaiting service. Adam drags Daniel over, andwinks at one of the girls.

ADAMLadies...

BRUNETTE #1Um, hi?

Adam pokes Daniel, and he obliges.

DANIELHow are we doing this evening?

BRUNETTE #2Wow...hi! Much better now.

ADAM(to bartender)

Four vodka and lemonades, please!

A short montage shows Adam and Daniel talking to the pair.Eventually, Daniel moves off to the dancefloor with thefirst, while the second remains talking to Adam on a leathercouch in the corner.

BRUNETTE #2So...you do psychology?

ADAMYeah...I’m pretty good at it, too.It’s how I can tell you are intome.

BRUNETTE #2(grinning)

Oh? And how can you tell?

ADAMWell, there are the mentalindicators. You are talkingfaster...laughing morefrequently...not to mentionmaintaining eye contact with me,

which is a good sign...

Adam takes a swig of his drink, and moves in closer as thebrunette giggles.

ADAMAnd then there are the physicalindicators...

BRUNETTE #2Which are?

ADAMYou are sweating a little...flushedin the face...not to mention your

heaving breasts, indicating ahigher than usual...

The brunette grabs Adam’s face, and pushes it onto hers,kissing him madly. Suddenly, a firm hand comes down on hisshoulder. Adam pulls himself away, as the girl kisses downhis neck.

ADAMDaniel, piss off! Can’t you see I’mworking here?

BOUNCER

So am I.

The bouncer pulls Adam off the couch, and throws him ontothe floor.

BRUNETTE #2Hey!

ADAMNo!

Despite Adam’s yells, the bouncer begins to drag him awayfrom the brunette, who walks back into the crowd

disappointed. On the dancefloor, Cherie walks up to Danielwho is watching the occurence with a grin.

CHERIEHow the fuck did he get in?

DANIEL(laughing)

Trust me, he didn’t!

ADAM(yelling offscreen)

Nooooooooo!
