Development

Main CharactersBy Rebecca Osborne

Outer Presence:

My main characters outer

presence will be a man who

dresses smartly, has glasses, has

no hair (aging). Have a dominant

impression on others and seen as

a family man.

Inner Presence:

My main characters inner

presence will be at first a family

man, who will see quite normal at

first. But later he will be come

more distressed and will become

slightly insane and not able to

deal with situations in a good

way. He will have quite a dark

background and be quite

mysterious and questionable, his

actions will not be that of a

normal person. Slight

psychopathic tendencies might be

seen.

Context:

Gary is a married man that has 2

children and a pet dog and lives a

normal family life. He has a full

time job, that provides for his

family. He lives in a house in a

suburban area.

Outer Presence:

The outer presence is a female

mother, who wears casual

clothing, and has a housewife

exterior. She has her hair tied

up, minimal makeup, a

motherly figure.

Inner Presence:

She will be perceived as a

strong woman, who worry's

about other people more than

herself. She looks after the

children and looks out for her

husband. She is a protective

and loving person and she will

be shown as someone that has

slight vulnerability yet still

being strong at times.

Context:

A wife and mother of two

children, who has a part time

job and also look after the

children and the house. She

lives in a suburban area in a

house.

Outer Presence:

The male is going to be

wearing causal clothes

(trackies), he will have

blonde short hair, he will

have a lazy exterior.

The female is going to be

wearing everyday clothes,

have long brown hair, will

wear makeup. Both will be

typical teenagers.

Inner Presence:

Both will be lazy

teenagers, that don’t do a

lot and are both in

education. So they will be

moody at times and not be

that involved in the

‘family bonding’. They

will both have normal

lives and be normal

teenagers. They care about

the way they look and how

they are perceived. Context:

Both are going to be in

education and live with

their mum and dad in a

suburban home.

Character Costume Why

Gary He will wear smart

clothing, a white shirt,

that will have the logo of

his company on it to

further represent that he

is a working man, with

black trousers. He will

also be wearing glasses.

His other costume will be

more causal clothing of a

grey jumper and tracksuit

bottoms.

Hair: Bald

Makeup: Slight pale look,

such as a powder.

To show his outer presence

as someone that has a

professional job, and earns a

good wage for his family.

His glasses also show is

outer presence to be

stereotypical of a smart

person that is intellectual

and this relates to his job.

He will be bald which will

represent his age, and at a

certain point makeup will be

used to make him look pale

to relate to his inner

presence of being scared and

there being something that’s

not quite right with him.

Later on he will change into

more casual clothing which

will represent his more

deranged side.

Character Costume Why

Alison She will be wearing

casual clothes such as

black leggings and a

grey fleece with UGG

slippers.

Hair: Tied up into a bun

or ponytail.

Makeup: Minimal/ no

makeup

To show that even

though she does have a

part time job she is a

housewife that wears

convenient clothing for

her to be able to do

chores in showing her

outer presence of a

mother.

Her inner presence of a

strong yet innocent

woman will be the fact

that she is wearing

minimal makeup so will

not be used for

Maulvey’s Male Gaze.

This will also show her

motherly figure.

choices and the fact the girl is

wearing makeup.
