The coming of the Holy Spirit: “When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sit- ting.” (Acts 2)
The Archdiocesan Eve of Pentecost celebration at St. Rose of Lima brought together the different Renewal Movements and other organizations in the church. Time after time it was repeated that we are one body, the Body of Christ. It was a great blessing to be “gathered in one place.” May the Holy Spirit bless each and everyone who at- tended to help us renew the grace and culture of Pentecost.
As of this writing Fr. Bob Hogan is on a well deserved vacation and will return by end of June. May the Lord return him home safely and rested to continue this work of Evangelization in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Fr. Bob for all you do for the Archdiocese and for the Nation as a member of the National Service Committee.
At the workshops held in the spring, it was emphasized that prayer groups should stay connected to the CCCR and with each other. Growth and spiritual maturity must be an ongoing process and we should share our gifts with one another. In each zone there are good speakers, teachers and music ministries that can share their talents so let’s support one another.
Please share the information from the Charisletter with your groups. We would like a bigger turnout at the Days of Renewal. If you have not attended one lately please come and give us your support.
It is normal during the summer months for things to slow down as people go on vaca- tion or spend time with families. We pray for all who will travel this summer that the Lord will protect you, bless you and bring you home safely. Remember, “take Jesus with you”. Thank you for your generosity throughout the year and especially the sum- mer time when income to the CCCR slows down.
Blessings to all!

FROM THE SERVICE COMMIT TEE:
Peace Be With You! “CHRISTIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY”
But! Our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20)
What are some freedoms that citizens of heaven have to celebrate? Through the Lord we are freed from spiritual blindness: “But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Co 3:16 17). Our citizenship in heaven brings us freedom from bondage: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the op pressed.” (Luke 4:18) Our Independence Day comes when we become a citizen of heaven by daily walking in a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
In July we will celebrate The Evening of Renewal & Re vival, “Embrace the Call to Citizenship of Heaven” by “Hearing God’s Voice”, (“The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.”) Ex 33:11

Year of Saint Paul By Jane Barz
Eleventh in a series of Reflections On the Life of Saint Paul
For the Jubilee Year of St. Paul June 28, 2008 – June 29, 2009
St. Paul’s Teachings and Literature on Christian Unity Are Still True Today
Today we are faced with a secularized world and a divided Christianity. If you look at the world of St. Paul you will see a similarity between the multicultural, secularized societies of today and the complex, pagan world of St. Paul. Paul faced enormous challenges but always proclaimed the Gospel – the good news of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ (see 1 Cor1:23). He proclaimed this good news in all situations, some of them complex and difficult, and he remained unafraid. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).
St. Paul taught and worked to bring Christians from Jewish, Greek and Roman cultures together “in a basic unity of faith” (see Ephesians & Philippians). He warned against the contradiction of saying on the one hand that we are in Christ and at the same time exhibiting behaviors that go against the Gospel. He was not as concerned with his popularity and being politically correct as he was with help- ing people see the necessity to really understand what it means to be transformed by the Holy Spirit into a new life and not be conformed to the world (see Rom 12:2).
The problems preventing Christian unity today are similar to the problems Paul faced. In his writings to the Galatians we see that they were being influenced by newcomers to Galatia who were proposing ‘another gospel’ which Paul saw as a ‘different gospel than that of Jesus Christ.’ From the beginning of church history people have been influ- enced by popular ideas with ‘new’ thoughts and ideas and with the cultures in which we live. Today we live in a world that says that the most important thing to consider is our- selves. The important things in life are all ‘about us’ and how our lives can seem to be made easier by getting what- ever we want with no consequences. We get caught up in these ideas because they sound good and are perhaps easier to live with. We attempt to apply them to the Gospel and to the Church making our own ‘Gospel,’ one that fits our agenda. We pick and choose which scripture we follow forgetting that in order to have a clear understanding of the teachings of Christ and to live as his followers we must accept the whole.
As we are called to speak truth in a world that does not want to be reminded of that truth, we can learn much from reading and studying St. Paul’s writings. Paul continued to proclaim and teach the truth of Jesus Christ while in prison and right to his death. Truth echoes and the truth written down by St. Paul continues to echo down through the ages
Fan ning The Flame is a live program on CTSA (Channel 15) that airs every 3 rd Monday of the month from 8pm to 9pm. Michael and Erica Rodriguez have been the hosts of the program for over 3 years. They have had the honor of having guests from our own community here in SA, to share what God has and is doing in their lives. It’s a wonderful way to meet and get to know our fellow Charismatic Catholics.
Please send prayer requests, comments, and questions in re- gards to the program to [email protected]

Spreading the Spirituality of
PENTECOST
“Thanks to the Charis- matic Movement, many Christians have...rediscovered Pentecost as a liv- ing and present reality in their daily life. I desire that the spirituality of Pen- tecost be spread in the Church, as a renewed thrust of prayer, holiness, communion and proclamation….”
Pope John Paul II, Pentecost 2004
