Little Acts of Kindness
Hello!I am Charles Marlow During IMPACT, I went on Little Acts of Kindness with Mrs. Haas and Mrs. Beaulieu
1.What is Service? And why should I care anyways?
Hayden Latimer, 11, is serving by clearing mulch
at Forgotten Paws
Service: The act of helping or doing work for someone
Trisha Mukherjee, 12, is serving by painting a building for the YMCA.
But what does God say?
““The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
and sisters of mine, you did for me’”
Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
““Do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may
become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation’ Then you will shine among them
like stars in the sky”Philippians 2:14-15 (NIV)
2.What Impacted
MeThe Importance of Giving Back
to your Community
4,000,000
Dogs are euthanized each year because they cannot find a home
Forgotten PawsVolunteering at shelters like Forgotten
Paws can help curb this number
At the shelter, we helped spread out a pile of mulch throughout the entire yard.
Pooper ScooperOther of the (less fortunate) team members had to scoop all the dog poop in the yard. Keeping a clean yard encourages neighbors not to complain about the shelter’s noise.
Bus CleaningEllie Griffin, 11, and Bethany Diamond, 11, tackled the shelter’s bus. Before they cleaned it up, it was filled with rat poop and a myriad of mysterious stains. By the time they got through with it, it was verifiably clean!
We Swept, Too
Trisha Mukherjee, 12, sweeps away the pine straw and dirt on the driveway. Keeping a clean appearance is important to Forgotten Paws.
Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you...
We spent a lot of the time loving the dogs, this one (who’s name is not Scooby Doo) was especially
lovable.
There was a lot of mulchIt was an eternal
pile we had to spread.
April Smith, 12, plays with two of the dogs. As much mulch as there was, there were about as many dogs!
No, honestlyWhenever we needed a break, we could sit down and instantly be covered by excited little dogs. For dog lovers, it may be one of the closest things to heaven on earth.
Forgotten PawsServing at this dog shelter IMPACTED me by reminding me of the importance of giving back to my community.
Also, it taught me about teamwork, and opened my heart to being more compassionate to those less fortunate, regardless of whether or not they are
human.
The Big IMPACTGod calls us to serve the “least of
these”. Sometimes the “least of these” can be a dog shelter in desperate need,
but it could also be a neighbor down the road. We need to be constantly
ready to obey God’s call.
Thanks!
