Location Recce

I have chosen to set my music video in number of different locations. For example, I wanted to film in New York because it is the home of Donald Trump (who the video is based on) and I also feel that I will obtain some aesthetic shots. Due to the current political state within the USA I think the possibility of protest and strong political view of the residents could create the perfect atmosphere for what I’m filming. Other locations include a forest and a local town centre. These would be used to film short clips which will allow me to spend more time on the more detailed shots when in New York.

Most music videos effectively use big wide establishing shots throughout the video, not only does it set the location but it also makes for a more professional looking video, as well as making it as if the budget is much higher than it actual is (much more impressive.) Luckily I may have the resources when out in New York to use a drone, and could therefore get some very impressive establishing shots and potentially even zoom in from a high shot above buildings to the actors below all in one shot.

Central Park will be a key location of my filming. This is due to the large span of diverse environment in comparison to the rest if the city. Meaning we can go from filming in a green wooded environment yet five minutes later be filming in densely populated city. This means we can easily film in two very different locations in a short period of time meaning a more efficient filming process as well as having impressive shots of a very notably well known area within the political places of the city.

The inner city and hopefully Times Square will be the inner city location of video. Obviously this is a highly populated area and therefore the room to film may be restricted due to the shear amount of people. Hopefully we will spread the Donald trump characters through the general public and have their faces stand out in comparison to others. The lighting from the buildings at night will make a great glow on the masks due to the fact that they will be laminated and therefore the best time to film may be at night. This will all depend however when we can get into the square at his least busy.

The ‘woods’ scene is the main location of the video and will be the location where by the lip syncing aspects of the song will occur. The fore ground in the shot will be open so that there is space for the actors to stand and dance. The background will be clustered with trees and tied to one of those trees will be Hilary Clinton.
