TRANSCRIPT
Charlie Mohns
• The film Se7en is about two detectives, a rookie and a veteran, who hunt down a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his modus operandi.• The OTS of Se7en directed by David Fincher is a creative and
imaginary opening sequence and it is unique to its self it uses many scenes and camera angles during the OTS. I will go into more detail about the OTS in the next slides…• Here is the OTS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k2gsEI34CE
Summary
Location
• The location of the Se7en OTS is anonymous as we have no clue where it is held or shot. All we see is what I have explain in the narrative section.
Various screenshots from the OTS. None showing or giving a hint of any location of where it will be set.
Narrative• The OTS of Se7en doesn’t give away any clues in the OTS just like most
thrillers as it creates more suspense and gets the audience thinking what will happen next. • The Narrative is almost the same in every Thriller an ordinary
person/duo with an ordinary set of skills are thrown in to a not so ordinary situation where they either have to escape, solve or capture the antagonist . • Here is the trailer for Se7en:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmZbLbPv6Fs
Characters • We see no characters in the short opening for Se7en but what we do
see is someone flicking through books and doing various actions. We have no clue who the person is, if they are a character in the film or are they just in the OTS to make it more mysterious due to the fact we will never see them. Through out the OTS the audience will be thinking who? And what are they exactly doing, which is what the director wants to create confusion.
Cinematography • In the OTS there are various scenes but only a few camera angles
these shots include Point of View, Close Up and Extreme Close Up the close up shots are of his fingers in which are very dirty and rough.
Extreme close up. Shredding his dead skin
Distraught close up of one writing.
