In addition to helping students design their four-year course plan, services provided by the counseling office include:
• Personality and interest assessments• On-campus visits by college admissions counselors• Workshops on topics such as “How to Prepare for a College Visit” or “NCAA Clearinghouse”• Standardized testing prep classes• Guided college tours• Parent education• On-campus Christian College Fair
Charlotte Christian provides a comprehensive college counseling program with dedicated and talented counselors who partner with both the student and their parents during the search process.
Junior Seminar, a specially-designed class for students in grade 11, is a key component in preparing for the senior year application process. In this course, students are taught how to write college essays, prepare their resume, discover potential college majors based on their interests and strengths, and determine which colleges they may want to visit or apply to.
During the senior year, college counselors walk alongside students as they submit their applications and begin the waiting period. Helping students prayerfully discern God’s desires for their next step is a key component in the journey. During their senior year, students applying for scholarships participate in mock interviews with faculty members in preparation for their actual scholarship interviews.
Helping students prepare for life on college campuses is also a focus of the counseling office. Whether it is how to choose a roommate or how to navigate the first few weeks of life on a college campus, the counseling does not end once the college decision has been made.
The College and Career Counseling program at Charlotte Christian School is an important and individualized process thatis designed to help students and parents navigate their way through college applications and admissions. Beginning withhigh school course selection, guidance starts in the eighth grade and continues through sending off the final transcript to thecollege a student will attend. Counselors work hand-in-hand with students to lead them to the place God is taking themafter their time at Charlotte Christian.
