Practical assessments

•  REMEMBER: •  You need to complete ALL of these areas •  You have only 45 minutes from the time your consultation ends to complete the

special occasion and evening looks •  You have only 35 minutes from the time your consultation ends to complete the

day look •  You cannot be a minute over to pass working efficiently is crucial •  You must use false eyelashes for either the special occasion or evening look

•  You also must deal with a modification to the service and a contra action •  Be sure to familiarise your self with the assessment sheet, you need to

demonstrate proper use and understanding of all makeup items

Feedback and tips

•  Remember to secure the client’s hair off her face with clips or a headband

•  Use a gown for clients •  Much more communication; explain WHY you

have picked certain products, WHAT they will achieve and HOW (if relevant)

•  Remember you hygiene with liquid eyeliners and lipsticks – be careful also to tap brushes NO blowing onto them

•  Be well prepared on arrival including have washed, dry makeup brushes

•  There is no reason why you cannot plan ideas or indeed practice with your own clients as homework – I would highly encourage you do this!

•  Think about whether the client is warm or cool toned, skin type, colour direction, face shape, eyeshape, lip shape etc, occasion, age.

•  Try to keep skin prep quick
