ProPueblo is a non-profit foundation and member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).
OUR MISSION is to create sustainable income opportunities leading to poverty alleviation, imporvoved lilihoods and environmental stewarship in South American communities.
FAIR TRADE principles are strictly and carefully followed by adhering to WFTO guidelines in our activities and relationship with the artisans.
All proceeds support the activity of approximately 350 artisans and their families in the process of design, production,marketing, training, financing of tools, quality improvement and social projects.
Our commitment to nature results in the use of locally courced renewable or reclycled and sustainable materials to reduce pressure on the unique en endangered habitat of the sorrounding dry tropical forests.
Currently, hundreds or high quality products are handcrafted from natural materials like tagua (vegetable ivory), ceramic, bamboo, balsa wood, and fiber such as abaca, banana husk, sisal , and toquilla, the material used for making Panama Hats, wich originally come from Ecuador.
High quality workmanship is required to handcraft the detailed and intricate figurines or other objects. This is a complex and time consuming art that requires from the artisan many years of experience. Attention to detail and proud workmanship creates unique and very high quality products for you to enjoy.
