Healthcare An OverviewHealth care is Indias largest service industry with revenue of $ 35 billionand is likely to double to $ 150 billion by 2018. Some organisations havepartly met this opportunity by establishing multi-specialty and super-specialty hospitals to cater to the huge demand. Much more investments are inthe pipeline to cater to this opportunity. In India, the health care sectorcurrently employs more than 4 million people; and future manpowerrequirements are expected to double to 8 million.Current ScenarioWest Bengal is likely to see a 1,30,000 shortfall in skilled resources by2015, claims a CII - PWC Skill Gap Study released in Kolkata. In healthcare,there would be an additional requirement of 5,000 - 7,000 qualified MBBS / MDdoctors, 20,000 - 30,000 qualified nurses and over 60,000 paramedical staffs& allied health professionals. The bed to manpower ratio in hospitals is 1Bed : 5 Employments.BackgroundCharnock Hospital, a multi-specialty hospital, is the key promoter of thisinitiative. Coming from the healthcare industry, we are well aware of thenuances, the demand-supply gap between industry requirements and institutesthat churn out such personnel.
