THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Chartered: 3-9-89
Volume 27 issue 6 June 2015
Another great Dolphin rally is behind us. Pismo Coast RV Resort was hosted by Lynn
and Sandy Mayor and Dave and Sandy Smith in May, and by all indications it was a
great success. Unfortunately Anne and I could not attend but our hearts were there.
We were in contact with several folks who were there and they kept us updated. Ken
Korhonen conducted the business meeting for me, and finalized our nominating
committee for Chapter Officers. Ken did an outstanding job. Bob Frauenzimmer is
the chairperson for this very important committee. Bob is a former VP of the club and
is always involved. Between Ken and Bob they have secured candidates who wish to
be considered for several of the positions. It is not too late to add additional names.
Please consider running for one of our Chapter Officers and submit your name to Bob
Frauenzimmer. It would be great to have two or more people for each position. Our membership will be
voting for: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, National Director, and Alternate Director.
This is the time of the year that members look at taking longer trips. It is my understanding that after the
rally at Pismo two and possible three members headed to Alaska, others were on their way to Oregon,
Canada, Mexico, and a trip across this Great Nation of ours for three months. As I have stated previously,
don’t delay the trip that is on your “Bucket List”. Travel while you are physically able.
There are several members who have had a trip or two to their physicians for heart, prostate, lung, eyes, or
stroke related problems. To the best of my knowledge, they are all on the way to recovery, and looking at
the grass and it is green.
My term as your president is over seventy-five percent complete and I would be remiss if I did not publicly
acknowledge all that our officers, directors, appointees, and rally bosses do for the club. Without their
dedication, attention to detail, and willingness to get involved, we would not have the great club that we
have. Thank you for your continued support.
Be Safe & Happy Travels
Leon, Anne and Miley

NEW WEBMASTER
Bernie Duker has volunteered to be the new Dolphin Club Webmaster. He will
take over the duties from Steve Justice as soon as they can get together to make the
transition. Don’t forget our web site:
Dolphins Club Web Site - http://www.dolphinclub.com
Hello Fellow Dolphin Club Members
Believe it or not, summer is almost upon us. It is hard to believe, though, based on
the weather. As I write this column on May 24, it is likely we will have a fire in the
fireplace tonight. It’s been lightly drizzling all day with occasional spurts of sunshine,
and the temperature never got into the 70’s. I guess it’s all part of the phenomenon
called “global warming” but this Memorial Day weekend I had hoped to see a little
warming around Southern California.
Looks like no Dolphin rallies until Chula Vista in October. We all need to try to attend
and support our new Chula Vista trail-bosses. It promises once again to be a stellar
event.
It also appears that many of our fellow Dolphins are making their way up north for the summer, and by that,
I mean waaaaayyyy north. Canada is the destination of choice for many of them, and some will be making
their way to Alaska. Sounds like fun.
By the way, do you know if Canada observes the Fourth of July? Look for my answer in next month’s
column.
Congratulations to Bernie Duker for taking over the job of Dolphin Webmaster. You can count on Bernie to
find ways to bring even more value to Dolphin members through their website.
Here’s wishing safe travels for all our Dolphin members as they hit the road toward distant stars (or RV
parks).
See you somewhere along the way.
Your VP
Steve Justice

PISMO BEACH RALLY
At the Pismo Beach Rally there were 34 Motorhomes who attended with 6 extra guests. We started the rally
Wednesday with afternoon registrations and dinner at Jocko’s Steak house for those who came in early or
members who were camping locally such as Santa Maria or Oceano Elks. Thursday was spent at the
reservation table awaiting the arrival of the remainder of coaches coming in to register. Thursday evening
was the annual San Luis Obispo Street Fair where some had dinner at Mclintock’s Famous Steak House.
Others enjoyed the evening walking the street fair. Friday morning was golf day; they had lots of stories
to share around the camp fire that night. Thanks to Sandy Mayer for the firewood. Everyone enjoyed Friday
night at the Clubhouse where dinner was served with famous clam chowder from the Splash Café in Pismo
Beach. Saturday was an on your own day with members touring or just relaxing in camp. Saturday evening
at the clubhouse we had an ice cream social with Ray Loud, Sandy Mayer and Dave Smith serving. The
members went through 5 gallons of ice cream with all the flavored syrups, nuts, cherries and whip cream.
Sunday morning we said good by to many members who had to leave and the rest of us left Monday
morning.
