Expectation:Typically a few parts in 1000 to a few parts in 100,000
Hard to measure in stars:Solar value good to ~40%(!)Often have to use proxies
Needed: a tracer that works on cosmic scales…

The N/O distribution ingalaxies follows a nearlyuniversal pattern.
The starting N/O ratio is setby initial star formation:A strong start makes more Oahead of N, depressing N/O.
