Induction Programme of M.Sc. GeographyThe Induction Programme of M.Sc. Geography was conducted by Department of Geography, School of Earth, Environment and Space Sciences of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani on August 31, 2019. The newly admitted 40 students in M.Sc. Geography programme and students of 3rd semester of M.Sc. Geography had participated in the Induction Programme. Prof. Bhagwan Singh Chaudhary, Chairperson, Department of Geophysics, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Prof. Bhupinder Zutshi, Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi had invited as the subject expert for the Induction Programme alongwith Dr. Jitender Bhardwaj, Registrar, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University grace the Induction programme with his presence and motivated student to be a pursue their carrier in higher education and contribute significantly in the overall development of society.

The Induction programme was started with Lightning of Lamp to Mother Goddess Sarasvati, followed by the ‘Saraswati Vandana’ by the student of M.Sc. Geography. Thereafter Dr. Jitender Bhardwaj, Prof. Bhagwan Singh Chaudhary gave a presentation on ‘Glimpses of Indian Space Programme’ and its application in the field of earth resource mapping. In his presentation Prof. Chaudhary also motivated the student to understand the importance of remote sensing & GIS and pursue their carrier in it, with considering the scope of employment opportunities. On the vary occasion Prof. Bhupinder Zutshi, gave a presentation on ‘Social Aspects of Geography and Disaster Management’, in which he discussed the concept of Hazard and Disaster, their various attribute and aspect mainly physical and social. In his through provoking lecture Prof Zutshi provide discussed the importance to societal aspect in the field of disaster management and its current scenario and future scope in Indian context.

After the extension lecture both the invited Expert Prof. Bhupinder Zutshi and Prof. Bhagwan Singh Chaudhary interacted with the newly admitted student of M.Sc. geography and discussed their quarries related to their subject domain, research and employment opportunity. Prof. Zutshi also highlighted the importance of Human Geography and existing employment opportunity in the field. The students of M.Sc. Geography participated in the Poster and Rangoli making competition, photographs of the poster prepared by the students are attached with the report. On the occasion the invited speakers, Registrar, faculty members of Department of Geography and students have planted the tree in the University lawn.

On this occasion Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Surbhi Gaur and Dr. Deepika Sankhyan were also present on the occasion. In concluding remarks, Dr. Pawan Kumar, In-Charge, Department of Geography extended his vote of thanks to all the invited subject experts, faculty member, office staff and students for their best possible efforts to make the induction programme very successful and though provoking event especially for the newly admitted students.
