Kansas Leadership Center Training The 4-HFoundation is investing $100,000 dur-ing the next three years in Kansas Leadership Center training in support of Kansas alumni and volunteers. This training is a $300 per per-son value that Kansas companies hold in high regard. The training also includes access to a 360 Personal Leadership Assessment, the KLC Leadership Portal and Web Chats for each in-dividual. The free trainings provide: An individual op-portunity to learn leadership as an activity and behavior, not an elected position. This con-cept requires ongoing learning and practice and insight into your role as a 4-H leader in helping youth realize that leadership is a be-havior, and anyone can lead, anytime, any-where. The next training will be February 19, 2016 in Wichita. Lunch and training are free! For more information, or to register visit: kan-sas4hfoundation.org/KLC

Willie and the Beanstalk This contest open to 4-H, and/or FFA teams interested in the scientific principals surround-ing plant growth. The challenge is to grow the largest soybean plant in a 47 day time span and document this effort. The starting date is February 29, 2016 and the Judging date is April 16th at the KSU Open House. Beginning on a common seeding day, contestants will grow a soybean plant for 47 days, document their activities, and bring their entry to Kansas State University Open House for judging. Priz-es will be awarded for the top entries in each judging category and all entrants win a tee shirt. Rules and more information is available at http://beanstalk.agronomy.ksu.edu

4-H Archery

K-State Research and Extension is an equal opportunity provider and employer.

Attention youth ages 8 to 18 interested in Archery!

We will be having archery practices at the Howard Fairgrounds on Wednesdays in February at 7:00 pm.

Come join us and learn about safety and technique.

Instructor: Benny Jackson

Premium Sale Requirements It is required that youth wishing to sell animals in the Premium Sale at the fairs this summer complete at least three educational events or livestock activities. These may be Rolling Prairie livestock events, out of district spring shows and/or livestock judging contests, and other events. If you are not sure if an event will count ask Jenny prior to attending to get verification. Also, it is your responsibility to notify the office what events you attended and/or participated in order to receive credit for them. Local club events or project meetings are not the only activities that were meant to count toward the requirement. We want you to attend both in and out of district events for the requirement.

Livestock Project Meeting You have two more chances before spring is here to start meeting the educational requirements for the Live-stock Premium Sale at the County Fair. Hope you can find the time to attend these events and get a jump on getting ready for the fair. February 17th at 7:00 pm at the 4-H Building in Sedan Jenny will be giving a lesson on animal identification February 24th at 7:00 pm at the Extension Office in Howard Richard will be giving a lesson on livestock judg-ing.
