during 2004 to 2012. The catalogue aims to

Business training delivered to potential loan recipients
In October, business training was delivered to beneficiaries in all tar-
get regions who had been selected as part of the “Income Generation
and Business Support Initiative” project. The training module covered
topics including: business management, loan management, effective
business strategies, developing business proposals and business initia-
tives. To conclude the training, the participants prepared and submit-
ted various types of business proposals with which they aim to receive
loans in order to further develop and implement their business ideas.
Developing homely environments in Small Group Homes
CHCA is continuing to procure the necessary materials to equip the
Small Group Homes, thanks to financial support from the Embassy of
the Republic of Poland in Tbilisi. In the month of October, one more
home was added to the list of Small Group Homes engaged in the
“Developing Homely Environments in Small Group Homes” project. In
total, the requirements of 14 Small Group Homes will be met within
the project framework. The necessities have been decided based on
research carried out beforehand.
At the present time, repair work is already being carried out in eight
Small Group Homes as part of this project.
Small Group Homes
CHCA continues to administer three Small Group Homes in the Kak-
heti Region. During this month, the homes received a delivery of a new
inventory purchased with the financial support of the Embassy of the
Republic of Poland in Tbilisi.
Also during this month, CHCA's partner organization “Our Home As-
sociation” organised a meeting of Polish specialists and consultants to-
gether with the provider organizations. The meeting aimed to discuss
the problems existing in Small Group Homes and establish methods to
allow for their further resolution. “Our Home Association” also organ-
ised training which was delivered to the leaders of the Small Group
Homes. The training covered the topics of “Effective Communication
and Difficult Behavior Management” with the overall goal of improving
leaders’ professional skills and competence.
Interest-free loans issued to IDPs and extremely vulnerable local populations
CHCA continues to support the business activities of both IDP and ex-
tremely vulnerable local populations through the issuance of interest-
free loans. In October, business training was organised as part of the
“Income Generation and Business Support Initiative” project, and at the
end of the training sessions, the participants presented business pro-
posals with which to apply for funding. The presented business ideas
were discussed by the project’s Loan Committee.
The Loan Committee selected 92 of the most efficient and realistic
business proposals and the proposal writers were provided with inter-
est-free loans (92 individual loans and 2 group loans) for the further de-
velopment of their business activities.
“Mobile Library” in Shida Kartli IDP settlements
CHCA continues to run the “Mobile Library” project in three IDP set-
tlements of the Shida Kartli region – Karaleti, Skra and Berbuki. The
minibus visits IDP settlements on weekends, equipped with various
books and board games. Children and young people are given the op-
portunity to read any books which interest them, and to participate in
various educational activities to support their development and in-
crease their level of education. More than 100 adolescents are engaged
in the activities organised by this “Mobile Library”.
CHCA has received a donation to support the Small Group Homes
CHCA has received a donation of €500 from the "Gemeente Middelk-
erke" and "Cel Ontwikkelingssamenwerking" organizations, thanks to
the help of Belgian EVS volunteer Sarah Delys. This grant will be used
for the renovation of the public school's sports hall in the village of Bai-
subani, in the Lagodekhi region. About 250 pupils are currently studying
in this school with the CHCA-administered Baisubani Small Group Home
children among them. After the renovation of the sports hall it will be
possible to organise football, basketball and other sporting events and
further group work in the school. Local chil-
dren will be encouraged to get involved in
these activities with which to aid their per-
sonal development.

Professional toolkits delivered to the maintenance teams of the Homeowners’ and Tenants’ Associations
During the month of October, as part of CHCA's “Developing and
Maintaining Homeowners’ and Tenants’ Associations for Internally Dis-
placed Persons” project, certificates and professional toolkits were de-
livered to nine maintenance teams from the Homeowners’ and Ten-
ants’ Associations, which have been established by IDPs in Rustavi,
Berbuki, Khurvaleti, Kutaisi and Senaki.
CHCA has been implementing this project within the framework of
the USAID-funded “New Economic Opportunities Initiative” pro-
gramme. The project has established Homeowners and Tenants Asso-
ciations in target IDP collective centres and settlements, and these as-
sociations have been provided with capacity building and maintenance
training.
With the professional toolkits that they have received, the mainte-
nance teams will be able to carry out necessary repairs in their collec-
tive centres, cottages and areas adjacent to their homes. They will also
be able to use the toolkits when carrying out any kind of construction
or repair work outside their settlements, further supporting their em-
ployment opportunities and increasing their income.
“We had the work experience but due to a lack of professional tool-
kits we either could not work or had to borrow tools from others.
Nowadays we have quality tools that will be vitally important for our
employment”.
Spartak Chichua
Maintenance Team Member
The distribution ceremony of the professional toolkits was attended
by representatives from CHCA, USAID, Chemonics, The Ministry of In-
ternally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommoda-
tion and Refugees of Georgia, and the Local Government.
Youth working groups established in Tskaltubo and Poti
At the beginning of October, two youth working groups were estab-
lished in the target cities of Tskaltubo and Poti within the framework
of the “Youth Civic Partnership Initiative” project. The Poti working
group comprises of 12 young people, who after much discussion have
selected the lack of an entertainment place as the main issue of their
local youth community. They have therefore chosen the creation of a
cinema club as the best way to solve this problem.
In November, they plan to carry out interviews and collect all the
necessary information in order to create such a club.
The Tskaltubo youth group consists of 17 youngsters who have se-
lected the problem of the protection of rights of children and young
people with disabilities as the main concern in their community. The
youngsters will conduct research over the protection of rights of this
vulnerable group and the current services available for them, and will
plan further activities based on the results of this research.
In November, two more working groups will be established as part
of this project.
40 IDPs are mastering new professional skills at CHCA's IDP Vocational Training and Service Centre
CHCA continues to run the “IDP
Vocational Training and Service
Centre” (VTSC) project in Zugdidi
with the financial support of
UNHCR. From January 2012 until
now, 160 IDPs have had the op-
portunity to master the profes-
sion of their choice and make it
their source of income, with the help of this project.
At the present time, the beneficiaries of the III cycle of the project
are attending vocational training sessions in the following areas: cos-
metology, hairdressing, sewing, vehicle repairs computer program-
ming and accounting. After finishing their vocational training, benefici-
aries will be provided with employability and business management
training. Finally, at the end of the training programme, on the basis of
their submitted proposals, those beneficiaries writing the most sus-
tainable and effective business plans will be awarded with profes-
sional toolkits which they can use to successfully develop their busi-
nesses and thus have an employment opportunity.
