    Event Name: ChE vs. 100

    UP Diliman. 5PM-7PM

    Introduction

ChE vs. 100is a quiz show that is based on Beat That Prof. Beat That Prof is an annual event (six years

and running) that is held by the chemical engineering representatives during the Chemical Engineering Week

in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

    Registration

    A.

    Online Screening

    1. An online screening will take place from September 6 to September 7, 2014.

    B.

    Selection for the MOB

    1. The highest scorers per year level will automatically be included in the MOB.

    2. All students who qualified for the MOB under the considerations listed above will be notified on

the week of September 8, 2014.

    3. Students who qualified for the MOB will have until the week of September 9, 2014 to confirm

their slot. Otherwise, their slot will be forfeited and give to the candidates on the waitlist.

    The MOB

    1. The MOB will consist of 100 chemical engineering students from the different chapter schools of

PIChE-JCL. They will be selected through an online screening. Their main goal is to eliminate the

    three ONEs.

    B.

    The ONEs

    1. Three licensed chemical engineers will be invited to be the ONEs.

    2. Each ONE will be given the chance to face the MOB provided that there are still members of the

    MOB remaining.

    C.

    Judges

    1. A panel of judges consisting of chemical engineering instructors or professors will be formed. All

questions to be used for the online screening and the quiz show will be consulted with them.

    2. And questions or concerns regarding any question in the quiz show must be raised to the panel

of judges before the next question is read.

    3. All decisions made by the panel of judges is considered final.D.

    Gameplay

    1. There will be six categories for the quiz show:

    a. High School Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics

    b. College Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics

    c. Basic ChE

    d. Average ChE

    e. Difficult ChE

    f. ChE Trivias

    2. Members of the MOB do not have to answer each question. The following scheme will be used

in determining which members of the MOB have to answer a certain question:

    3. All questions will be multiple choice (four choices). Ten (10) seconds will be given to question-

and-answer type questions, while 45 seconds will be given for problem solving questions. The

MOB and the ONE may start their calculations while the question is being read. No one will be

allowed to continue his/her calculations after the allotted timed.

    4. The first ONE to face the MOB will be chosen randomly. All categories must be chosen before a

ONE may select a previously chosen category.

    5. The answers of each member of the MOB (required to answer the question) must be given to a

designated marshal. The answer of the ONE will be recorded once all MOB answers are in.

    6. If the ONE fails to answer the question correctly, then the ONE is eliminated. At the same time,

all members of the MOB (who are required to answer a certain question) fail to give the correct

answer, then they will be eliminated from the MOB.

    7. The MOB wins if all three ONEs are eliminated, while the ONEs win if all 100 MOB members are

eliminated. No one wins if all 30 questions are exhausted.

    E.

    HELPs

    1. Each ONE will have three HELPs that s/he may use:

    a. 50:50

Two of the wrong choices will be removed such that the correct answer and one

    wrong answer will remain.

    b. Ask a ONE

The ONE who is playing will selected a fellow ONE when s/he uses this help.

Both ONEs will have one minute to discuss what the right answer is.

    c. Consult a reference

A set of books will be prepared for this HELP.

The ONE must announce what reference s/he wants to consult. The ONE will be

given one minute to consult that reference to find the correct answer.
