Dedicated to “the librarians then, now, and in the years to come,” Cloud Cuckoo Land is a series of love-leers to the power of stories, the beauty of our own mortality, and what all humans owe to each other. For fans of Cloud Atlas and All the Light We Cannot See Smile The Story of a Face By Sarah Ruhl Memoir is my favorite genre, so it isn’t a surprise that I selected Smile by Sarah Ruhl for my staff pick this season. Reading other people’s life stories always makes me feel less alone in my struggles. I appreciated Sarah’s personal reflections on motherhood, feminism, religion, modern medicine, and career. I laughed, cried, and celebrated her triumphs while learning a good amount of history along the way! I highly recommend it for your fall TBR list!
