Note that the intensity plot and vibrator statistics are not produced by this module.

    7.5 Check Reference Sweep

This test compares the reference sweep from a wireline similarity test with a synthetic sweepgenerated by Testif-i using user supplied parameters. The result of this comparison enables the userto determine that the correct sweep is being used. This is particularly useful when non-linear sweepsare being used.

Clicking the Synthetic button allows the user to enter the sweep parameters used to generate thesynthetic sweep. These parameters are generally similar to those entered in the vibrator electronicshowever there are two additional controls, Filter delayand Sample Interval. These two parametersare required because the recorded vibrator similarity data has been subjected to filtering and samplingin the recording process. These two simple parameters do not completely define the characteristics ofthe recording system however in practice they are sufficient to check that the vibrator sweepparameters are correct.

The sample interval is simply the sample period used during data acquisition in milliseconds. The filterdelay, also entered in milliseconds, must be empirically determined for each recording system andfilter configuration. Note that non-linear sweep parameters should be entered for post correlation
