CHEErs Club
The Commerce House of Emerging Entrepreneurs (CHEE’rs), Club, a wing of the Department of
Commerce works with the motto, “Knowledge is Investment”. A Voluntary Association of
commerce students functions for the betterment of its members by
Inculcating entrepreneurial skills in young minds
Sensitizing them to the needs of the society
The various activities conducted during the year are —
On 3rd August, 2015 CHEE’rs Club organized its first event ‘Brand by Hand’
competition where the participants had to paint the logo of the brand given to them by
hand. A number of students participated and showcased their creativity.
On 9th August, 2015 students participated in CSR 5K WALK at Necklace Road. The f
the walk was to create health awareness and reduce pollution in the society.
On 31st August 2015, ‘Business Quiz’ was held to enlighten students about various
aspects of business world and encourage their business acumen.
On 8th September 2015, ‘Radio Advertisement’ competition was held to enhance the
Marketing and Advertising skills of the students. It was a fun activity and students
participated with great enthusiasm.

On 24th September, 2015 ‘Word Mania’ a cross word puzzle was organized by the club.
The intent of the competition was to enhance students’ cognitive capacity and enhance
the knowledge about the business environment.
On 24th November, 2015 CHEE’rs Club conducted an OUTREACH activity. The
Volunteers and the incharge Lecturers visited “Anuraag Human Services”(A home for
Mentally Challenged and Elderly People) at Tolichowki. The Volunteers entertained the
kids by Dance performance and conducted some fun games. They interacted with the
elderly people and entertained them by singing and games.

On 21st December 2015, a one day fest ‘Jamboree-2015’ was held to unveil the talent
and creativity of the youth. As a part of the event two Competitions were conducted. The
details are as follows: 1) Best out of waste (Theme: Business Model) 2) Maarish: “The
Role Play of a Finance Manager”. The objective of the events was to motivate students
to think laterally.

On 23rd January 2016, as a part of Outreach activity the Club has put up a stall of
“Shantiniketan” an NGO of handloom products in the college premises and the
volunteers helped the team in organizing the stall.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell Activities for 2015-2016
To promote self employment, ED-Cell conducted an Interactive Session with an Entrepreneur, Mr. Vivek
Ranghabhashyam, Digital Marketing Specialist, Internet Marketing Consultant, 3D Modular and Texturing
Artist, Proud BNI Member on 31st July 2015.

The students of B.Sc III year and B.Com III year attended a one day workshop on “Entrepreneurship
Orientation program” In Association with NSIC on 21st Nov, 2015 to develop entrepreneurship skills
among students.

ED – Cell has conducted One Day Inter-Collegiate competitions on 21st Dec. 2015 to promote skill
development among the students so as to enable them to earn while learning. The Competitions were – Nail
Art, Face Painting and Hand Tattoo.

RGNIYD, ICTACT, Ministry of Youth Affairs, GOI) in collaboration with Department of Business
Management, ED-Cell & NSS Unit from 19th Jan to 23rd Jan 2016

2014-2015
The CHEE’rs Club, (a wing of the department of Commerce) conducts various events to
showcase the talent of the students. The main objective of the Club is “knowledge
enrichment & skill building of an individual”. The club has organized various
competitions to unwrap the skills and talent of the students from all the streams.
On 15th July, 2014 the club organized “Sketch-o-Rama” to enhance the business
knowledge of the students in the form of art.

On 29th July, 2014 an event “Being Entrepreneur” was held to polish the entrepreneurial
skills of the students.

On 13th August, 2014 as month reminds us about independence “Call of Duty” a collage
competition was conducted, in which participants have show cased the consequences of a
war in a country.
On 4th September, 2014 “Mind Bloggers” a business quiz was conducted, where in
students knowledge about the brands and current affairs was challenged.

On 18th September, 2014”Word Mania” a cross word puzzle was organized by the club.
This was a challenge to display the knowledge of the business Environment.

All the events conducted were successful in achieving the objectives of the CHEE’rs
Club. Students from all the streams actively participated and winners were awarded.
A one day intercollegiate fest “Jamboree-2014” was held on 20th December, 2014 to
unveil the talent of the youth. As a part of competition “Business Quiz” was conducted where
8 teams actively participated from various colleges of the city.

The fest ended with a gratifying speech by one of our Student Dean’s Mrs. Latha Subramaniam.
Besides developing entrepreneurial skills, club also encourages the youth to serve the
society.On 10th December, 2014 members of a club visited ‘Radha Kishan Home’ an
orphanage where they had a pleasure to interact and distribute snacks to children. It was a
blissful experience to win smiles on young faces.
